I like it. I find it unlikely Vrana returns this year. Just a hunch.

That is a thoroughly meh offer, especially coming from a team overloaded in better prospects. No thanks.

St. Louis doesn't even take that call for their captain. At the same time, I don't think Detroit should even consider being buyers, playoff bound or not. Just stand pat and trust the process.

Unless we're a top 4 or 5 team in the conference I can't see us doing much but selling

pretty pessimestic view. If the team is somehow still 3rd in the atlantic by the TDL, why would they sell. A lot of us thought they would be pretty conservative in the offseason and develop their prospects instead, but SY went out and got 7 UFAs and now here we are. I wouldn't be surprised if he thought it was worth throwing some prospects and picks at a chance to build more of a winning atmosphere and get some playoff experience.

First trip to the playoffs you don't buy at the TDL.

Let's say Detroit does this and trades for Shattenkirk and O'Reilly. Detroit still gets knocked out in the first round and neither stays in Detroit Now they are 3 picks and a pretty solid 3rd pair Dman who fits perfectly behind Seider and Hronek.

ah I see you've got your crystal ball out and already figured out who's winning the cup this year. Mind telling me so I can put some money down. Honestly though, any team that is good enough to make the playoffs has a chance at making a run. Just look at teams in the past decade like LA and Montreal who got in by the hair of their asses and went all the way to the finals. I'm not saying Detroit is going to win it all, but might as well be a bit optimistic that they might make some kind of run.

As for the tradeoffs, there probably isn't a bad likelihood that ROR resigns since he is buds with Perron and probably wants to be on a winning team. As for Lindstrom, he's good, but he can be replaced.

I'm just realistic but the crystal ball bit clever, that's not played out at all. Seriously though there's nothing wrong with being optimistic but suggesting the Wing's could win the cup this season is borderline delusional. I don't see them even making the playoffs and that's a good thing we could use another lottery pick. Once we start playing more in division games we will get beat up. The success the wings have had so far is beyond what anyone expected but they don'r have enough talent in Detroit. Look at the left side of our defense maybe you could make it to the cup with one of them but not all 4. There is a good amount of talent in the farm system and a couple players make the team out camp and the Wings stay healthy there is a very good chance they make the playoffs next season.

The playoffs are completely different from the regular season and it's not smart to load up on rentals before you even know how you team is going to handle it.

Wow did I just read you saying it’s a good thing we won’t make the playoffs.

With Detroit's lottery luck I think we could use another lottery pick.

It depends how it looks. If we're 3rd but look on par with teams ahead of us maybe he buys. I just don't see us matching up with the Boston or Torontos of the league. I don't think we sell the farm but the ufas to be like suter or oesterle or sunny may get them an extra 2nd or 3rd and Yzerman does it.

The Wings did have “the streak” which is a contributor to why the team is currently escaping purgatory.
