Bo Rejected Offer

Created by: Prime_Jimbo
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 12, 2022
Published: Dec. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It seems like his agent and the FO are working towards a deal despite the noise. His agent previous leaked the Canucks initially offered 8x5.125m in the early summer, and other offers in the high 6s and low 7s. Today the news of an offer rejected just below 8m seems like the FO leaked that counter to the agent leaks. I see this as just a part of a tough negotiation. That said, who knows what will happen.

So if Kerfoot is a cap dump, why does Garland who makes more and has term, have value.

I see you like to go straight to extremes.... Funny thing is, I like Kerfoot's game

I don’t see the Sabres being interested in Boeser
Don’t think we’re looking for a winger

I could see us interested in Horvat though

Probably because Garland is a better player, despite having some struggles this year

I'm sure Adams isn't even interested in Horvat, we have Thompson and Cozens in the top 6 and our two lines are already stacked. And Adams will not pay Horvat 9 million to play third line.

It is mind boggling to see Sabres fans on here want horvat considering his age, cost to acquire, and upcoming massive new contract

By the way, the same fan says that we have no place for Chychrun when we play with Bryson, Fitzgerald, Pilut and Clague in line-up, and Jokiharju and Lyubushkin are always injured.

Just to add, the Sabres have two top centres in Thompson and Cozens....with years of control. Just no room on the Sabres for an expensive third line centre even as UFA, never mind trading for him.

Seems like Horvat's agent is getting desperate if he talking about the extension in the public. If any if the leaks are actually true (take with a grain of salt), Canucks offered a RNHopkins deal that he signed with Edmonton. Gotta think Canucks (or really any team) thinks Horvat isn't worth 8m on a 7 year deal. Horvat's signing options for a big deal aren't any better than what the Canucks are offering IMO.

Correct. We also have several young centers in our system that would be forever blocked and almost a whole team of young rising players who need new contracts in the next 2 offseasons.

I like the way the Sabres are building their team. Seem to on the route of signing their young players to long term deals. Seems like a good option compared to sign expensive UFAs who soon will be past their prime. Sabres and Wings could be true contenders soon.

If you like Garland you should like Kerfoot, there are not two more similar players in the league. One makes too much though and can't play centre or kill penalties. But he did have 1 more point than the other guy last year. Garland is fine but he's a and contract at 5 million.

He's entire time in Vancouver he's been identical to Kerfoot but isn't good at killing penalties, isn't as good defensively and can't play centre. So how is he better?

What do you both think of the trade above?
Boeser is younger than Tuch, while he would have to be on the third line, if a winger was injured he could move to the top two lines.

Last year Garland was 29th in 5v5 points, ahead of players like Conner, Rantanen, Forsberg, Nylander, B Tkachuk, Tavares, Zibanejad, and Debrincat. He had a higher 5V5 P/60 than McDavid, Draisaitl, Ovechkin, Pastrnak, Ehlers, Barkov, Panarin, J Hughes, and Guentzel. Only 10 of his 47 5v5 points were secondary assists (16/43 for Kerfoot were secondary assists)

Garland also had worse linemates than Kerfoot yet produced better. Garland is actually pretty solid defensively, although it’s not the best part of his game

Skinner-Thompson-Krebs
-good scoring line, i think Krebs would fit fine there
-Olofsson was successful on that line last year too if he’s not traded

Asplund-Horvat-Tuch
-could be a good defensive line that can play against other teams too players AND should be able to score

Quinn-Cozens-Peterka
-kid line going well, keep it together

This gives us 3 legit lines
And having a line that can slow down opponents top lines will be nothing but helpful

IMO Boesner is too expensive for what he brings. Spend 6.65m better. If you're not happy with Middlestadt, he's an easy "reject". UFAs are looking for homes, Just think you can get a good quality player for 6 or 7mm...maybe even a goalie. Plus the Sabres seem to going the route of giving their expiring ELC players big money, spend it on those guys

Ah this song and dance. Playing with JT Miller, Boeser and Petterson often is worse than JT and Nylander eh? But somehow all those players are better than Nylander and JT. Funny how that works.
