A late first for a player on pace for 30 goals who has averaged 27 goals every 82 games during his four year career.
Buffalo should say yes as they have LW prospects waiting to join the club.

Don’t think the Sabres would have any interest at all in Engvall
Maybe a 1st + another pick

Why would you trade Olofsson when he finally got away from Mittlestadt and started producing again. Its not even a 23 1st

I really hope mittelstadt doesn't go back to centering olofsson when Skinner comes back.

Wow. a really overpay for Chychrun. Holl is playing well. Then to take on more cap and trading three young assets,, horrid of the Leafs and no other team would offer as much.

Don't forget his made of glass as well. He would be 3rd pairing on RD, Leafs d is solid. LW is where I'm worried.

I wouldn't be too worried at LW just yet. Janrkrok is injured (you I know he generally plays RW). Kerfoot and Engvall certainly do their job...and hey they are HOT...well they were last night.
Robertson has to ready some time, Steeves could probably fill in, and Knies is the X factor.
IMO it would be a mistake to trade much for an marginal improvement Plus the Leafs really can't take on additional cap for next season.

You can easily fit these two players onto a team for next season. It forces a couple smaller decision in our bottom 6, but that’s it.

We need scoring depth, especially o no the wing, and a way to produce on the PP more consistently in the post season. Olofsson is exactly that.

Chychrun is on an amazing contract, can play the right side, and gives us plenty of options going forward.

It makes resigning Bunting impossible, weakens us defensively up front and doesn't improve the PP, he wouldn't ever be on the top unit. Chychrun isn't at all that much of an upgrade over what we are getting with Sandin and he certainly can't play the right side well enough to replace any of our RD. This is just not needed.

If TO adds, it should be ROR, someone defensively sound and adds a huge offensive element for a 3rd line as well. Olofsson can score but he's not great defensively and if he didn't fit with the top 6, he doesn't have the skill set to face the hard defensive assignments TO's bottom 6 get.

This just isn't a good use of our assets.

It literally doesn’t make resigning Bunting impossible. If bunting wants more than 5 I would rather he test free agency anyway. Imo depth scoring is a far bigger issue than adding ANOTHER defensively responsible forward.

Its a buy-low opportunity for us and we get some term. He’s better than anything we have currently at LW. 30 is the floor if he’s a Leaf. And fwiw, his 2-way play is being overblown, but regardless he doesn’t have to be a defensive stalwart to play beside Matthews lol.

You don't win 8-5 in the playoffs often. You win by being sound defensively. The team can't sacrifice the identity we are currently seeing take root. Adding some 1 dimensional scorer can drastically alter how the whole 5 man unit can operate. Kapanen was a guy who did that, created some fun offence sometimes but also gave up so many bad goals against by blowing his assignment hoping to score. We don't need that, we need to maintain the defence first approach and transition well and maintain control. Olofsson would be fun in the offensive zone sometimes but he's cause more problems than he'd fix. And really ROR is in no way a slouch offensively, he's far more than just "another defensive forward"
