I don't know who needs to here this but Holl isn't being shipped off this year.

He is 2nd on our team in ice time, behind only Rielly. He has more minutes than Marner and Matthews and all our other D. Our team is 3rd in the league, doesn't give up many goals at all. Hasn't lost in over a month in regulation. Holl is not being shipped off unless some super star is coming back.
I thought they should have traded him in the offseason and gotten a guy like Luke Schenn to add more physicality to our D. Holl has proven me and most of us wrong.

I wouldn't mind getting Schenn as a 6-8 guy though. He would probably be our 7th Dman right now.

The one thing I do think we need is a top 6 left winger who can play centre if we get an injury to Matthews or Tavares. ROR would be my number one choice as a rental. Horvat would be my number 2. I know both are centres, but I would try them on the LW and then we have them as centres when needed or to win draws on their strong side. My number one choice not a rental and the way I would want them to go is to get Boone Jenner. Columbus fans say he is not available and fair enough. This is my offer for him regardless. If not him, ROR or Horvat.

Next to that, maybe get a Schenn for physical d depth, but our d depth has done amazing so far this year and I wouldn't want to discourage any of our players.

Great post man. I’d love to get Jenner. But it ain’t happening. Not without a significant overpay that people would ridicule for years to come. But thank you for recognizing what so many of us have said for years. Some other teams 4 5 and 6 D man are not better than the leafs. Just are perceived that way.

We’ll put together argument. I agree, d corps and goalies are good 🤞👍💪.
but I think ROR or Horvat or Toews or Jenner (although this one doubtful - see below) should play 3C. Our top 2 lines are very good to excellent as is; if we add a 3rd line (Kerf - ROR - Engvall for example) that can both match up with any opponent line and be a scoring threat, that’s the ticket imo. 4th line with Kampf as center is gold.
Serious, serious overpay for Jenner imo - he’s good but not great. That’s the price for an elite rental (elite rentals are super rare); we can find a 3C or 2W at much more reasonable price imo.

Kampf has been playign 15 minutes a game and being put out almost only in defensive roles, against top players and winning his match ups almost every night. He is a true #3C. Holmstrom is showing his worth and I am happy with him as 4C.

I am sure if there were any struggles or a loosing streak, they would put the new addition as a 3c and go from there. I would personally just start them on 2 lw and see what happens.

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander have been a great line and Tavares-Marner have been great but they haven't be able to find someone to stick on their left wing.

But like I said I am sure they would try a few things with a ROR type of guy before the playoffs to see what works best.

And yes this is a lot for Jenner. I based my proposal off the Hagel trade from last year. It's not the same but similar. And they aren't the same player either and I understand that. But that was my starting point. I don't see Columbus considering trading him unless the package looked something like this.

Agreed with TMLBrian that Holl is here to stay. But I disagree on Jenner. Yeah he would help this year. I though is 3.75m is good value, the Leafs could get good value next season with the resigning of Holmberg and Kampf. Leafs don't have many true NHL prospects, so I would hate to trade Minten and two firsts, for a third line centre.

That's fair! They could make this trade and sign Kampf, Bunting and Holmberg. I have made that AGM a few times now. Team looks really solid like that.

I have Kampf around 3.25m x 4 or 5 years. Bunting 4.25m x 5 years. Holmberg is hard to tell anywhere from 950k-1.5m x 2.

The reason I am okay paying the price is because they should be all in this year and next year.

Take the lottery protection off the the picks and we'll think about that Jenner trade. The answer will probably still ultimately be "no", but it'll be considered.
