NO I WOULDNT ACTUALLY DO THIS. Power is the guy and nothing has changed

what if we drafted matty. Love Power and he will be great but having tage, cozens, matty down the center for the next 10 years would have been elite

would make more sense to use mitts and olofsson to get a defenseman and/or goalie

you guys have enough offence, the D without power would be even more terrible.

Both Power and Beniers are gonna be elite for many years; but I'd rather have the elite #1 dman

The third line needs immense help. But as i stated in the description, I would stll draft power today, it was just a bored random thought

Interesting thought exercise. If Beniers went #1 to Buffalo and Power went #2 to Seattle, the Kraken probably would have traded Soucy or something to open up a spot for Power. They also wouldn't be involved in as many shootouts this season, but I'm not sure they would improve as much as they have because Beniers is a key piece to the uptick in goalscoring.

I think the way the 2021 draft went worked out well for both franchises. Buffalo got a future #1 defenseman to anchor their backline for years, and Seattle was a new franchise. What better way to kickstart a team than with a future top-line center as a foundation?

If Tim Murray had kept all of his 2015 picks he could have had Boeser taken 23 traded 21 OA for Lehner, Beauvillier taken 28th traded 25th OA for Kane, Sebastian Aho taken 35th OA traded 32nd for O'Reilly.
Worse in 2014 he took Reinhart when Draisaitl was taken 3rd OA or Sergachev in 2016 taken directly after Alex Nylander.
Tim Murray set the rebuild back by 7 years.

Power was a good pick.

I hate judging where guys were drafted. Alot of the time is agreed by most where a player is selected when they are taken. Its year later where people can rip apart the pick, yet when the pick is made usually seems to be correct. Its stupid to go back and say you could have picked the best player at each spot. It doesnt work that way tho

I prefer Power then and now, although I also like Beniers, but now there is even more reason to prefer Power when our center depth is very good, but our defensive depth is terrible, and without Power it would be even worse.

@Fjordy @asauer1122 Three years after the draft Andrei Svechnikov appeared to be the better pick over Dahlin as well.
Most likely in two years Power will appear to be much better than Beniers, just as Dahlin does now.

You are correct.
But my point was Boeser could have been taken if Murray did not try to jump start the rebuild when the 2015 draft was predicted to be loaded.
He traded away two first round picks for players who have now played for three different teams (Lehner) or two different teams (Kane).
He should have known Lehner was troubled during his time with Ottawa and Kane was a locker room distraction.
None of his first round picks nor any of the players for which he he traded are on the team.
He set the rebuild back by at least 7 years by trading and drafting poorly.
