I may have missed/messed up some of the math on the cap space, so let me know. Going to make '23-24 and '24-25 posts with these same deals to see if it checks out on paper
First of all, you laid out the cap projection perfectly and in an easy to understand manner.
Second, it has been three years since the Sabres traded a draft pick for a player. They may start if they think another piece to the puzzle to win the cup, but not to add a player for 20 regular season games.
Third the only player I would add from your list of trades would be Schenn, but I would not trade Jokiharju.
I do not notice him in a game to assess if he is any good, is the best comment about Henri. IMO that makes him a very steady if unspectacular defenseman.
Add a solid RHD physical defenseman, let's keep the picks to throw darts at possible RHD.
We have too many hole to fill, to be a cup contender.
Adding players who will walk at the end of the season for draft picks does not make any sense at the present time.

I don't know why we need so many veterans. Add one defenseman and one forward. I am satisfied with Jost and Krebs like ours 3C/4C.
Completely agree.
Jost is this years Curtis Lazar only better.
Picking up young former first round picks either as a UFA or waiver wire is a smart move IMO.
Krebs seems to play his best hockey with Girgensons and Okposo.
They are excellent forecheckers, keeping the puck out of the defensive zone and frustrating the other team
