Dubois next year

Created by: bnormie46
Team: 2023-24 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 22, 2022
Published: Dec. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Let’s say jets do well in playoffs 2nd round game 7 or conference finals. Dubois is on pace for a 100pts this year and following this year we either have to sign him long term or trade him. For a young 100pts Center the salary is going to be huge and the trade value will be huge but getting a replacement Center will be difficult.

I think you would be wise to trade dubois if that is the last year of his RFA. He is dead set on playing for MTL isnt he?

Personally I trade him or lose him for nothing over 72 million and 8 years, losing him for nothing would hurt and possibly lengthen rebuild, but if it’s a all in this year and all in next year, and let the chips fall where they may, I would be all right with it, just think the squad needs a few pushes and a bottom out over strive to be mediocre after the two pushes. Basically a Winnipeg contract year for scheifele/helly/ and Dubois so going to be interesting going forward.

He’s backed that off a bit and said Winnipeg is a possibility in the future, but that tune may change back also closer to ufa status

I highly doubt PLD signs long-term, but I can definitely see him signing a short to mid-term contract as long as WPG shows some life. Something like a 3-year term, one to match the remainder of KFC's contract cause they work so well together, doesn't sound so bad.

I agree with you on the short term deal. I could see him signing a 3 or 4 (maybe) year deal. It would be a large dollar contract and still slow allows him to sign another big one in his prime.

Makes sense for him to do as well. Guys going to put up 100pts with KC year after year and cash in massively on his next deal.

Yup, exactly what I was thinking. Stay with a guy that you have chemistry with, rack up those points and wait for the Brinks truck to show up in front of your house.

yes the way to make the most money is definitely to get what you can till you are 28 and then sign a max term contract.
