Just having some fun. I like this idea a lot.

Columbus fans disagree. I understand that. But I would push hard to make this work if I were Dubas.

Thoughts?

Leafs smash decline

It's a lot to pay. But I think Jenner is exactly what the Leafs need. Big, Defensively responsible, left winger, who is also very good at center. If Matthews or Tavares go down with injury, he would be our best option to replace them. He is also on a good contract for several more years and he is in his prime. He is also the captain of Columbus, so he is a good leader. All reasons as to why Columbus still might not accept this trade.
I think the trade makes sense for both teams, based on where they are at as organizations. A lot of Columbus fans will disagree with me though.

I think Dubas has thrown away the BJ's GM phone number after that terrible N. Foligno trade couple years back.

That one turned out poorly for sure. I understood why they wanted Foligno, but I personally was hoping they would go for Taylor Hall. They went all in on Foligno and the Leafs team was stacked heading into the playoffs. And it just didn't work out.

At least in this case Jenner is much younger than Foligno was and we would have him for 3 more seasons.

Too high a price imo. Maybe that would be what’s required given his importance to Columbus; if so, prefer to target a rental (ROR, Kane, Horvat) - lower acquisition cost and a better offensive player (albeit for one playoff only).

Probably the price it would take but don’t think the Leafs do that, Jenner would be a great add with his contract though

I understand that, he just isn't coming here for the equivalent of 3 first's. It's not happening

I really don't think Boone Jenner is as good as you think he is. He's a big guy shooting at an unsustainable percentage given his career and overall chance generation. "Defensively responsible" is definitely not a word I would use to describe his game. You might just be fooled by the size thing or the captaincy and affordable contract, but he isn't anywhere near the player that the price indicates.

A massive overpay for a third line centre the Leafs don't need. Really messes with cap next year too.

Counter offer, 2023 1st, Knies, Kerfoot and Holl (or Muzzin) for Jenner? I get that would never be accepted but it’s less then the offered package imo.

I’m not sure those players cost that much less. I could see kane getting at least a first and a good prospect. Same with horvat
