Boeser and Horvat out

Created by: Angusc
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 16, 2022
Published: Dec. 28, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The team will have two holes next season at wing and center this offseason, but Podkolzin will replace Boeser and Geekie replaces Horvat. Geekie could be signed to a relatively cheap contract so that they have enough money for Pettersson's contract 2 seasons from now.

Blues trade as mentioned is mainly a cap dump for the Canucks so that they can sign Kuzmenko and Pettersson. Bringing in Boeser who is younger and has 3 more years help the Blues with their competitive window. I don't really know what Boeser is worth now based on his play, but I put in a prospect and a pick if he's worth that.

Bo has most likely priced himself out of Vancouver at this point, regardless of how the Canucks' season ends out. If he's traded based on how the Canucks want a hockey trade, then Seattle would be an option considering they are in a position to make the playoffs. Bringing in Oleksiak replaces Myers and also JR had him with the Pens. Geekie is brought in due to being a younger player with more upside and could potentially take over 3rd center. (Previous post, i had put in Vince Dunn and Wennberg for a potential Horvat trade. but it wouldn't work since Dunn and Larsson work well for their D pairing.) Put in the 1st since it would most likely be required for a Horvat trade, and Delia also since Seattle may need more depth on goaltending.

Other than that, Pearson is moved due to cap reasons.

It would not be smart for Seattle to make that deal. They are better than anyone expected, they have future 1C in Beniers with Wright developing to 2C, while Wenneberg and Gourde are good enough for now in the middle. Delia gives them nothing, since they are stuck with Grobauer and Drieger.

I don’t even get the logic to that blues proposal…
Boeser is just barely above a cap dump at this point in his career and his contract isn’t worth it, help you even said he’s a cap dump in the description. So the blues give up the far better player, a pick and prospect for Boeser? Seriously? And what does the “if they can move tarasenko” man? Is there any reason why they wouldn’t be able to move him?

@Czu8iks
"...Pearson is moved due to cap reasons."
If Tanner is being move for cap reasons, do not expect to get anything in return.
"2023 6th round pick (BUF) Anywhere for Pearson."
His $3,250,000 contract runs to 2023-24 and he only has ONE goal in 14 games,
Send Buffalo the 2023 3rd for taking his salary for the remainder of this year, and 2023 2nd for taking all of his $4,250,000 salary next year.

@KDev
OMW, I just looked at the Blues trade.
Vlad is so much better than Brock, and STL has to give up a second.
I am certain a team at the TDL will give up more than a first for Vlad's services.
