Possible Offseason Targets

Created by: x1x1x1x
Team: 2023-24 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 28, 2022
Published: Dec. 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Possible offseason targets whether by trade or signing. Obviously some of these guys likely wont be up for trade, and some people will think it would cost too much to buy them. But these are just for the most part some cheaper players to fill in around the core. Some prospects here too.

Scratches are guys who could be signed through UFA or RFA
IR is guys who could be acquired via trade.
LTIR are guys who could be resigned but are up in the air.
Colton and Perbix definitely come back thats why I have them on the roster.

Dont read too much into the cap hits for UFA or RFAs, I didn't seriously take the time to think out their AAV or deals. This is mainly for discussion

A lot of how this team looks next season depends on how much Killorns contract is. Colton is a sparkplug and mainly an opportunist when it comes to his scoring. He still needs to develop his ability to get to the middle of the ice on his own, his puck handling in said position, and his selfishness so he actually starts to shoot when he should, therefore I think he gets another bridge. Unless Names has a great 2nd half of the season and shows up in the playoffs, I cant see any other team paying him 2.5 or more. If he produces at the rate he has so far the rest of the season and doesn't do much in the playoffs, he may get resigned, but i wouldnt pay something like more than $1,125,000 for another year. $1,500,000 if his scoring improves maybe, but definitely nothing close to or over 2 mil.

Perbix i would be down to do like 2x5/6 or something less risky given he hasnt even played half a season at like 1x2 or 1,250,00x3/4

Colton maybe 1,750,000x1/2
Killer who knows.
Perry is valuable at his aav and fine for his role so he could come back. I love Bellemare and Maroon, but I worry their age may catch up next year and having all 3 of the school bus in the bottom 6 may be problematic.
Love Coles game but his deal depends on Killorns next deal.

Let me know what you think about any of these players, players you would go after or could see coming to town, or the whole situation in general. Thanks.

Detroit's not even remotely considering trading Cross Hanas anytime soon. He's exactly what we need in secondary scoring.

Can't blame you for wanting him, he's pretty exciting with his toolset, but yea, Detroit is very unlikely to move him unless it was part of a blockbuster trade

Chatfield will cost you WAY more than you’d want to pay. He’s only making 762,000 for a team in a championship window…and he’s a perfect fit for Canes system on the 3rd pairing.

You want to trade a 2nd for him?

Indeed. Looked so good at training camp this year in TC. Gonna be lethal on the powerplay

I'd imagine he's our heir apparent, To take Bertuzzi's spot once we dump him.

Oh yeah no doubt. He's a rare commodity. Nah not a 2nd since our draft picks are all thin

I’m not sure if that is sarcastic or not, because Chatfield isn’t a rare commodity. He’s just a great 3rd pairing fit with the Canes on a close to league min AAV. He’s in the category of a player you’re trying to find a replacement for as soon as you trade him. Means you’re over paying in a trade.

no im being serious. I think he is a rare commodity. He's young, excellent contract and a RHD. Him being in the category you described is the exact reason why he has as much value as he does. Yeah you can find replacements but not like him. He's in a sweet spot. Most think he should have developed more by his age(same people who call 23 year olds busts). If he falls off, its no harm given his contract. If he grows, there wont be as much hype around his name to overpay him so he could get another decent deal. Im no expert, i dont watch the canes as much as id like to. I just have always liked his game and i cant recall any time that he did something that made me scratch my head.

He's currently our #8. Hes a fine #6-8. He's looked alright this year, theres still room to grow, he's just not a guy I want playing regular 3rd pair minutes. The games he does play, he usually doesnt see much ice time. Further down the road and into the playoffs, if he has to fill in because of injuries, he's gonna be lucky to see more than 10 minutes a night. But again, he does have some upside and next year he may see a bigger role than his current one
