Hawks decline. They're not trading a 4th for Kap. Pens can give Hawks a 4th to take him though...

Cap is already set at $83,500,000 for this year.

And Florida passes, Sam Bennett is worth more than Ty Smith and a late 2024 2nd round pick.

Kapenen is 100% worth that deal.
It would be stupid for Davidson to not pick him up for what is basically a bag of pucks.

If Kap for a 4th is such a great deal, I'm sure there will be another team that steps up.

Hawks are using retention slots on Kane, Toews, Domi or AA...that leaves zero retention slots.

In this hypothetical, the hawks should wait til next deadline to trade Kap and hope he ups his value getting better ice time.

Hawks will have better options in the offseason then to give up a pick in order to acquire someone they take a next season TDL flyer on...simply no need for them to do this.

Giving Kapanen away is a dumb idea. There is nothing wrong with his production and at this point we all know that the main issue tanking the 3rd line was Carter, who has since been moved to wing to lessen his burden. He isn't a cap dump. He isn't useless. He is a slightly overpaid 3rd liner.

I don’t disagree. I’m just saying in this hypothetical trade that would be the best scenario. However I don’t think Chicago should pay cause Kapanen is either the best player on the ice or by far the worst. There is no in between and he is far more often the worst player on the ice.
