Complete with Gavrikov extension, because he's too good of a defender (and person) (and mentor to the kids) to give up.

I think Bo probably wants to play for a cup team so I'm not sure he would re-sign with Columbus. There's lots of talk that the Canucks have already offered him $8m or more and he declined so I don't see him accepting the same offer from a team that is lower in the standings than the team he is currently on. But I do think it is a good deal for us especially if those picks aren't protected and Columbus manages to find themselves near the bottom next year too

Boqvist is probably not the type of dman the Canucks would be interested in. A package around Ceulemans would make more sense.

There was no report of him getting 8 from the Canucks.

Sorry, my bad. I have read rumors that he was offered $7m but he is asking for at least $8m

Gavrikov is not going to take 4.5 which is why he's going to be dealt. You're looking at 6mil right now to keep and I am sure the term is the key point. There is a real concern Gavrikov could end up as a 3rd pair in 2-3 years and having a 10mil 3rd D line isn't a good look. Not only that Chinakhov is probably going to get a 2-2.25M bridge deal so need to factor that in. Need to be careful spending money like this because Sillinger, Marchenko and KJ's ELCs are up and they alone could cost up to 7-10mil to keep around.

Also while having Bo will be nice he's historically been a better Boone Jenner but really not worth 8.5mil, he's just having a typical contract year. I rather wait and spend those resources elsewhere.

The post i made before specified that he comes packaged with the aforementioned 8-year extension. I should have put that into the post here too, so that's my fault.

The problem is that Cuelamens is the type of defenseman Columbus needs as well, that’s why they shouldn’t be trading him.

Adding a cyber would be great, but going into next season with the essentially the same d core as the last 2 years is insanity, we are doing the same thing expecting different results and it’s not going to happen.

I'd offer him 6x$5.5 in a heartbeat. Even if he ends up playing 3LD that's a damn good 3LD to have. That contract is likely done by the time they really need to pay whoever takes over as 2LD anyway. Plus the mentorship he provides to all the young russians on the team really can't be understated.

I don't think it's a completely terrible group, they've barely all been on the ice together after all. I wouldn't mind going into another season with them at full health. I don't see how they can possibly not play Jiricek next year though if he continues to dominate the AHL like he is this year so far.

On paper they look fine, but what happens on the ice is major disappointment. With a mostly healthy d core that you’re speaking of we had a record of 4-9-0 and a point % of .307, after Werenski went down and players started going out if the line up we have a record of 8-16-1and a point % of .340, which is actually a slightly better record. So I feel like my point is slightly justified in that they were worse when everyone was healthy.
