A trade for PLD that I can understand is for is right to be able to offer him a 8 years contract versus if he goes UFA and u can only offer 7 years.

So for exemple if at the draft before he goes UFA Winnipeg and mtl could do a trade for late pick exemple a 5 round pick for is right or something like that.
