From what I am seeing, NJD is looking for top6 help. With Hamilton and Marino in the top 2 position on the right side making Severson tradeable. I think Garland is a good option. I think NJ could pick up a cheap 3RHD for the playoff run.

Is Severson available for the right price?

No. Even as a self rental he has more value to us then what you suggested. If anything Severson gets traded at the draft and not the deadline

I think that Anaheim is only interested in trading Henrique for a high draft pick (plus). For example, I can see the Winnipeg first for Henrique with 50% retention and the 2023 Anaheim third or maybe the 2023 Boston second.

I think adding a 2024 WPG 2nd is all what is needed for the initial offer to get accepted.

Severson for Garland makes the Devils worse. Easy decline, Severson would take an overpay no team is willing to pay due to their position in the standings. Like my fellow devils fans above, Severson is more valuable to us as self rental than most assets people are proposing for him.

Yes, but I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what I'd accept from the Jets specifically that would benefit the team. I'm not super keen on draft picks.

Here's the problem, the package revolves around a Defenseman with size (which we like) a 24 year old goalie in the AHL who maybe can become a NHL backup, and two candidates for third line center.
Anaheim has Centers coming out of our ears right now, and we already have Zegras, McTavish, and Lundestrom playing in the big club. Now maybe Gustafsson is an improvement on him due to size, but Zhilkin just feels like a Russian copy of a young guy we already have.
The goalie really doesn't move the needle much, while we do have a need for an AHL goalie, I'd prefer someone who may be able to make it to the show one day, and I don't think Berdin fits our timeline.

So for us, the only piece we really WANT in that trade is Stanley, the rest is basically window dressing for us. We think, for providing a top 9 guy who consistently scores near 50 points on one of the most defense starved teams in the NHL for the past few years for 1.5 years below 3 mil AAV (in this cap climate) who can play wind and center anywhere in the top 9 and be used in all situations and is damned good in the dot, that's going to cost a lot. We want a 23 1st. We'll pitch back over our last 2nd our or own 3rd if Stanley is thrown in. Otherwise, its more valueable to us to keep Henrique on the team.

I'm a big fan of Garland but the Devils are very deep in terms of forwards already and especially now given that Palat and Bastian are returning from injury.
Getting Garland in now means the Devils would have to scratch two very decent forwards at any given night (guys like Wood, Boqvist, McLeod, Zetterlund etc).

At the same time, Marino is currently out injured so the Devils D is stretched a little thin right now.
But the main factor conducive to the Devils immense success so far in the season is how they've consistently been able to ice very strong defensive pairings at all time, the D corps have been their best performing and most valuable department this season.
Therefore the Devils cannot trade Severson, they'd lose too much of their competitiveness for the playoffs for it to make sense.

If Jersey was playing like it was expected in the preseason I would say he would be a prime trade deadline candidate, but since they are a top 5 team in the league, any reinforcements will come at the cost of prospects and picks.
