Only on cap friendly would Konecny be worth more than Nylander

Jarvis is another small winger with no physical play, leafs already have too many of these style players. What players are going to the minors?

Konecny isn’t worth two firsts and decent prospects. The Jarvis trade honestly isn’t too far off in value, but it doesn’t make sense for the Leafs. Jarvis doesn’t replace what Nylander brings, and I can’t see his ceiling being as good as Nylander is now.

Konecny has 2 mores years at 5.5 and is putting up 100 Point pace on team where offensive talent is lacking,

But Toronto isn’t a team where offensive talent is lacking, it’s a team where it’s abundant. Konecny would be a good add, sure, but he’s not worth two firsts and two decent prospects. If one first is bumped down to a second and one of the prospects is taken out, and the fourths can stay in Philly, the trade feels more fair.

Im not saying Toronto is a team that offensive Talent is lacking. The Flyers are.

I'm saying I believe a 2 Late 1st + Prospect is somewhat justified given what a player like Hagel got being on a good contract with term, Konecny being the far superior player has similar situation of having a good contract with term.

Hagel’s contract is a fraction of what Konecny’s is, so I don’t think that’s a great comparison.

TK has way better production though, and isnt surrounded by superstars like Hagel

Damn what crack are you smoking? Jarvis has been one of the more physical players on the Canes roster this year. Besides, Jarvis is not being moved, and especially so for someone who refuses to play defense. Canes won’t be helping the Leafs out. And the Canes still don’t want Nylander.

Tell me you know nothing about Seth Jarvis without telling me you know nothing about Seth Jarvis. Dude is on the small side, fine. But to say he has "no physical play"? Absolute laugher. Doesn't hit so much because the Canes always have possession, but go and watch any goal he's scored ever, he's always fighting people off and battling for position in front of the net looking for contact.

Canes pass here. Jarvis has long-term team control. Nylander is a UFA in 18 months. Plus, Jarvis is still like 20. He could become what Nylander is at this point. No reason to move him right now, he's playing well.

Konecny has 1 less point in 7 less games on a terrible team. He also played on the PK and make less money for longer. Konecny is worth more

Canes probably want more scoring and Willy is a point per game guy or better. And when he’s a UFA Car will have to money to resign him. Willy is still pretty young and you hoping that Jarvis turns into someone with Willy’s production, I think the proven commodity would entice

Canes don't have the space to re-sign Nylander. They would have to re-sign Necas, Aho, Pesce, Skjei, Teravainen all in the same window. That doesn't include the cap space they'd have to burn on a goalie since Freddie and Raanta expire this year, Jordan Staal, etc etc. The space isn't there. They need scoring, they could just re-sign Pacioretty and keep all these assets. Or take a run at Tarasenko or Kane. Or Pasta if he makes it to free agency. No reason to commit assets like this to Nylander when it doesn't help long term. If Nylander had 3/4 years left, I'd understand it a lot more. But he'd effectively be a rental the Canes bought before the season, and the Canes notoriously do not spend big on rentals.

U could say the same about Willy. He’s never had a 40 goal season and has never had 100 point but that’s fine.

Ur paying for a good cap player. He’s great for the number he’s at

Nylander was on pace for 40 in the Pandemic season and has been at a point a game pace for the past 2 seasons. And also makes way less than he should. So yeah, definitely the inferior player is worth more.

I know Willy is better but Willy makes more money and needs a contract sooner then Konecny. Konecny is also very responsive and plays on the PK a lot.

But a lot ur giving up 2 first for him and get back 2 fourths

In the nylander trade u get a first and Jarvis who was a first and u don’t have to wait for the first to develop

Basically the same value for both of them. Both can be broken down to 2 first lower first and then some meh prospects or future meh.

I read recently that Konecny is bottom 5 league wide for xGA/60. That's hardly responsible, it's a false reputation.
