That’s way too much for Oreilly given the years he’s been having. Idk if he’ll even get a first

So a 1st round pick plus a former 1st round pick- who since drafted has shown why he was a 1st round pick (and whose ELC is even eligible to slide again) for a rental??

NOT A CHANCE

According to this site every prospect, doesn’t matter how good or bad they are is untouchable.

First off it's Frank Seravalli.

And secondly Kyle Dubas isn't moving Matthew Knies for Ryan O'Reilly.

Yea, Stastny was traded to WPG for a 4th and Dahlstrom, and that was an Oct trade.

Its interesting because of covid there is this cohort pf players that the correlation between their talent and where they were picked isnt as strong. The petes for example have stillman who was the devils 1st rounder in 21 as well and while a solid player is definitely not a 1st round talent. We get to watch ottawa a bunch too from being in division and boucher is nowhere remotely close to a 1st round talent.

Othmann it wouldnt shock me if he struggles at higher levels. The talent is there but the drive isnt.

Your opinion, and you're entitled to it, but the fact remains, not available, and especially not for a rental.

Yes for the right deal and this aint it

If Dubas turned down 3.5 years of Hagel and MAF for Knies why would he take 2 rentals both of which are underperforming

If Knies gets traded its for Meier whose an RFA.

Hes not technically wrong but it wont be for this. It would probs be for someone like Meier or Konecney (aka someone with term) not underperforming rentals

Would Toronto have cap space for Meier or Konecny ? People say oh Toronto couldnt re sign O Reilly so he would only be a rental, yet all of a sudden they could do Meier or Konecny that would cost even more money?

There are never untouchable prospects when jobs are on the line. Dubas and Shanahan have done a great job building Toronto but make no mistake they are feeling the heat in the final year of their deals (final year for dubas at least. I'm not sure about Shanahan)
