Even with a cap increase of $2,000,000 that only gives the CBJ $12,100,000 in cap space - $9,500,000 on Larkin leaves only $2,600,000 you're not getting no backup goalie and 1-2 skaters for that. But if Voracek goes on career ending LTIR. Then yeah it's quite possible.

Tarasov has proved capable of backing up with a cap hit of $1.05M. Then you've got $1.55M for 1-2 fill-in skaters. Plus, this is Jarmo, the man is not afraid to trade. He could easily free up cap if it meant signing Larkin.

Us Detroit fans need to recognize and fear the possibility of Larkin leaving for free and going to Columbus.

So be it, if Jarmo gets Larkin away from us more power to him. And we go after Bo Horvat whom Yzerman considers more of a 1C than Larkin.

Well it's definitely floating out there, He considers Horvat a 1C and Larkin a 2C.

Maybe on some third rate rumor mill. Yzerman doesn't float rumors or such statements about his players to shoot himself in the foot.

Many credible insiders have brought it up, Elliotte Friedman for one said that Larkin isn't a 1C but a 2C and the Detroit organization considers Horvat a 1C in Detroit should we get him.

I only came here to find this after putting numbers together, and CBJ is a real threat to lure Larkin away from Detroit. Still close to home, have cap space, and they have Larkin's BFF. Beyond that, they have better talent coming through their pipeline with Sillinger, Johnson, top 5 pick this year, Jiricek, Mateychuk, Marchenko...

Yeah as a CBJ fan I think y'all get him resigned but we are looking over that fence salivating at the idea so y'all better not mess that up hahah

Sadly I think everyone here has accepted Voracek is done. Too many head injuries and even our fans don't want to see him in fear he'll make it worse. He did his job and had a great career. Just soak up some extra money on the LTIR and rest!

lol I don't blame you. Jarmo has the killer instinct to get it done, too.

Up til this afternoon, I had no fears of Larkin not signing. But now, with all things considered (proximity to "home", cap space, roster, future)... I'm a little scared.

And payment/cap isn't an issue. Yes we still have to pay the Kids long term but if it ever comes to it Jarmo could deal off Laine as he only has a 4 year deal and the thing about finishers like him he will always have value and can be moved especially if the cap jumps in a year or two especially if we have to pay a long term Bedard deal in 4 years but thats only like a 18.5% chance of happening.

After all the mishegaas we got to deal with with a handful of Wings fans going on and on about how Werenski was absolutely going to bolt from here the first chance he got to play in Detroit with Larkin, it would indeed be really, really amusing if Larkin came here instead. smile

That said, I'm not holding my breath.

Larkin signs that with Detroit not Columbus, Larkin wants $10,000,000+ on the open market.

I would hope cbj cap manager blocks signing almost any UFA for another huge contract. We have amazing young players coming up and they will need to start getting paid over the next 2-5years...not alot left after 9.75mil, 8.7mil, 9.5 mil and then UFA for 9.5mil...unless you bridge Johnson, Sillinger, jericek, chinakov, marchenko and whoever is taken with this years 1st.
