Detroit declines. If we don't extend Maata, it will be a 2nd or 3rd straight up, Ryan has zero value to us.

a 3rd pairing dman is not worth a second. 3rd is fair no cap going back no deal.

Isn't the whole point of Florida moving Duclair because of the money? Why would they take back a contract at the same dollar figure for a less productive player?

I mean... I'm not trying to negotiate with you, just telling you what the market will be. I think a 3rd is fair as well, but obviously Detroit is going to take the best deal presented to them if they decide to move him.

Detroit has no use for depth players coming back, so if they move Maata it will exclusively be for futures as far as value. They could take an expiring contract back for cap purposes, but it won't be considered an asset, but a money move, so that cannot be factored into value/cost.

Ryan is just money going back. I am hearing from friedman and others though that what was a first last year is a second and a second last year is a third type thing though. Derek Ryan could also probably bring a 3rd or 4th round pick becaue he can win faceoffs. Edmonton is just trying to get bigger and better at penalty killing which is why he is out.

Don't ask, it still doesn't make sense. Florida doesn't need money next year. They need money now if Hornqvist comes back off IR. No idea why Florida entertains this.

I mean, Detroit could probably turn around and net another 3rd from Ryan, so I'm not sure what the complaint is.

laugh A pending UFA in Ryan, And a garbage 4th that's 2 drafts away and we retain 50% on Maatta for that, Yeah don't think so there will be tons of teams offering better than a garbage 4th.

Maatta isn't a 3rd pairing Dman, He's only playing on the 3rd pairing because he's just getting over Pneumonia and Lalonde doesn't want to overwork him.

I think the Hawks trade is close. Depends on whether Hawks are willing to move Toews for a late 2nd alone. If they are, Hawks probably accept

No team in the entire league is going to give up a retention slot for a 4th round pick, let alone sent a NHL defender along with it.
