Maybe, but somebody might have a higher pick or he could be needed in a package. We'll see.

You're not getting the VAN 2nd round pick, let alone for a player who has been scratched nearly as much as they've played this season.

Canucks pass easily. They only paid a 5th round pick to acquire Bear who is better than Foote. That is what you should be aiming for. No way will you get a second for Foote

Canucks decline. They aren't in a position to be giving up high round picks for players, especially picks in 2023. Best they'd do is a 2024 5th for Foote, same price as Bear.

Fair enough. Tampa declines that very easily. Foote should get at least a 3rd on his own, and if not will likely be part of a package deal.

Tampa isn't interested in Bear. They'll move Foote for Schenn most likely if he's who Brisebois is interested in; otherwise, he'll either be part of another package for depth rental or get at least 3rd rd value if moved at all. As far as a 2nd round pick, maybe not Vancouver's, but if Tampa needs a 2nd to acquire another player, there's little doubt Brisebois could package Foote with a mid pick or equivalent prospect to gain one, which is the key to this agm anyway.

I never said Tampa is interested in Bear... I'm saying that the Canucks only paid a 5th round pick to acquire Bear. Why should the Canucks pay a 2nd round pick for Foote who is a worse player? Makes no sense. Foote's value is that of a late round pick. He hasn't shown anything that indicates that he should be worth more than that. Turn the 2nd round pick into a 6th round pick and it is more realistic.

Okay, you can believe Foote is worth a 6th, although he's worth more than that. Tampa would laugh at an offer like that and quickly decline it.

I’m sure they would, but you haven’t justified why he would be worth more

He has quite a few good aspects to his game. He has a good shot and usually is solid positionally with relatively good awareness/IQ on the ice. He also has begun using his frame more to be more physical. His major flaw is his skating, especially his initial acceleration. His value has dropped some, but he's still an rfa and will be fairly inexpensive on his next contract as well. His ceiling could still be 2nd pairing, but 3rd pairing is probably more likely. In any case, in a package with him and a 4th or 5th rd pick/B prospect, a 2nd round pick is easily attainable, and by himself, he's still at least getting a 3rd. Tampa isn't moving him unless the deal is what they want, as he's under team control for at least 2 more years. Vancouver's 2nd may be on the optimistic side, but with the add, a later 2nd is well in range or just a pick/player valued in the 3rd rd range by himself.

I think the most likely deal between Tampa and Van would involve Schenn for Foote. Tampa has interest in Foote and Van has a need for RHD. Just doesn't make sense for them to be giving up a top 40 pick in an insanely deep draft when they have a very weak prospect pool.

I agree that shooting for Van's 2nd in the draft was aiming high, so a lower 2nd would probably be the target in order to make the other trades work. Tampa might look for a depth add on defense, and Foote for Schenn has definitely been put out there by many on here and elsewhere. Tampa may also be looking at a 3LD like Mikkola, as Cole can play either side. Tampa is actually okay on the right with Cernak, Perbix, Bogo and Cole all able to play that side, but in case of an injury, it would be good to have one extra on either side.
