It's not because you've seen worse that it makes your trade proposal good

not saying it is enough either. Just that the value I put is much closer than what you may think...

They want: a first, a top prospect (way better than Mesar) and a roster player

The 1st being 14th overall IS the top prospect. Arguably better since they get to choose their own player/position.
Mesar then becomes the late 1st which is more likely from any contending team.
Dvorak is the roster player.
This is a 2nd round pick more than the asking price.

Not a trade Montreal should make (we have other priorities than adding a winger), but it's easily in the ballpark if that is indeed the asking price.

Dvorak doesn’t make a lot of sense. Grier is looking for a guy to rebuild with, not one on the wrong side of the aging curve
I would shoot for a protected Montreal 1st instead of Florida, given how a smart move by Zito can make this pick just another mid-late 1st

Although it is buying, it is also a guy that can be on the roster for 10+ years

I think it's on the right track. Maybe add Harris? I like Mesar a lot.

Did you not read the guy's trade Proposal? He has a Roster player in Dvorak, A First round pick from Florida, Plus Mesar and a 2nd rd pick. .........So you listed what you think SJ would want. His proposal covered everything you mentioned plus more. Because he is actually giving 2 1st rd picks as Mesar was a 1st rd pick. Lets compare this trade to Horvat, as everyone is saying Sharks will want equal to what Canucks got for Horvat.

Beauvillier(25) Dvorak(27), Point Production been pretty similar over last couple years. Dvorak wins faceoffs and PK's. Isles added a first round pick, this guy added Floridas pick, which could be higher than the Isles pick. Isles added Atu Raty, who was a 2nd round pick, vs Montreal adding Mesar who was a 1st rd pick. PLUS Habs add a 2nd rd pick. I think it is actually a very fair trade. If NOT it is very close. It could be tweaked.

If I am the Habs, IF I can move Edmundson and get a 1st in return, I would use that first to put in a package for Meier instead of the Florida pick.
