Likely fair value for Vrana right now but Detroit declines. I'd rather get him back to playing NHL games to increase his trade value. No point trading him for a draft pick who will most likely never play an NHL game.

Unlikely he is dealt at this time with his value this low. No need for Detroit to equip the Canes with a possible 30 goal scorer next season at 2.65M while paying the other half of that salary to do so.

MAYBE the Schenn deal works, but the rest are pretty lopsided for the Canes. Bennett isn’t a buy low IMO - Cats have several other routes they can take to shed cap.

The Vrana deal isn’t happening, we get it. But it probably happens for a Canes 2nd + decent prospect.

I highly doubt Yzerman will move Vrana for anything less than a positive return, let alone dump him... he took a calculated risk with the waiver at the time and it looks like it's paying off. Vrana was given an opportunity to get his game back (in a lower pressure situation), get his personal stuff sorted, and the Wings can continue to evaluate him with no risk. Worst case scenario, we go into next season and eat the final year of the deal(we have the cap space). Best case scenario, he returns to form and we add a 40-goal caliber scorer back to the lineup. There is literally nothing positive to be gained by the Wings dumping him, or selling low.
