There's rumblings the Pens may target a dman. Kulikov was brought up by Friedman and McCabe was brought up by Eklund. Obviously Eklund is as good of a source as anyone on this board, but he's a player I've traded for on here before.
If the Pens are truly targeting an LHD, I have to think Dumoulin would be going the other way which would be surprising to say the least. I just can't see how else they'd free up the roster space.
So yeah, I'm just testing things. Remember, Hextall refuses move a 1st. Dumoulin would have to go the other way in this deal as merely a cap move. He's a rental, so no committment for Chicago.
I really don't see Dumoulin getting moved. It's not worth parting with the picks it will cost to move his salary and he's been playing better of late. Ideal scenario would probably be to bring in another top 4 defenseman, move Dumoulin to the bottom pairing with Rutta, then let him walk (or sign him real cheap) in the offseason.

I’d much rather do something like this and think this is a lot more fair vs what I’ve seen from hawks fans acgms where it’s like a 1st, 2nd, and Dumoulin at minimum.
Yeah, I couldn't find a recent one. My guess is his numbers have tapered off since that team is an absolute dumpster fire right now.
He's also got something Hex and Burke like and that's a serious mean streak.
Not sure how much stock you put in the Athletic's player cards/Dom's GSVA model but here's McCabe's:
Every other Chicago D-man has absolutely pitiful numbers, and he's putting up solidly middle-of-the-pack numbers while facing incredibly difficult competition - I don't think you're getting more than 20-25 points out of him but I think his defense would thrive on a team with solid NHL players.

Dom knows his stuff, so I definitely hold his input in high regard, so that's a pretty glowing card considering his situation there.
