I'd love to see us get Henrique. Also, that Detroit trade is a little light in value for DET.

Bertuzzi for a close to a 2nd and Heimosalmi
Walman for an almost 1st next year.

That is hardly light on value. Bertuzzi’s value isn’t very high.

I was discussing the potential for Rico with Caniac555. I think he could be an underrated acquisition. He's not a rental which Waddell's style and like you put above...shouldn't be super expensive, but it's not the splash that I'd like to see. I'd like CAR to pay up for Meier and extend him. THAT'S a big acquisition and with an extension (that CAR can afford) should solidify their cup contending years for quite a while.

Completely low. Walman has been one the best dmen on the Wings this year since being paired with Seider. Detroits not going to give him away

I was thinking through what happens if canes don’t get Meier or Boeser who would be some other targets. Henrique was one. What do you think about schmaltz?

The legend of meier is so large right now that the Canes aren’t going to meet the ask.

If sJ doesn’t allow extension talks, we probably stay in the market because it won’t be as high. The market really shrinks then. I still think Meier is Buffalo bound just because of that late teens pick is going to carry a lot of value versus our pick.

A 35th pick isn’t giving him away. Other speculation that Detroit won’t be able to afford him long term with Larkins deal and the Seiders soon to be deal.

Yes, on the extension talks for sure. BUT, the SJS don't have a single Defensive Prospect in the top 100 prospects. Sure sure, Hockey writers isn't a gospel by any streatch, but it's an indication. The SJS do have Bordeleau and Eklund as forwards, but the Canes have (3) Heimosalmi, Morrow, and Nikishin. There's got to be a situation where the SJS could take a 1st and (2) prospects. Whether that be Noah and a Dman or (2) of these D prospects...there's got to be a play here.

with that amount of flux coming for our defense and how contracts line up just perfect for our defensive prospects to come in, I doubt the big two are floated in any deal. Heimo probably would. The team believes if his season ends soon enough, he'll be playing for Chicago this season.

Wallman stats this year are off the chart, and he coincides with the rebuild, Yzerman will get a deal done

At this price the Wings take their ball and go home. Why trade a 30 goal scorer with an edge for pennies on the dollar? Adding a useful D in as well, greedy

He isn’t a 30 goal scorer this season though. Is he even 5 at this point?

Dealt with injuries and hasn't been as good this year, but 30 in 68 games last year? The Canes have a lot of good prospects but Heimosalmi isn't one of the top ones, I like Bert to the Canes tbh, the fit is good and he plays a game Rod would appreciate but I think you have to commit higher value assets

you dont pay last season prices for a rental this season. You pay this season's price. Bertuzzi is a canes target because he wont be an expensive one. Canes go for guys who had previous big seasons but having a down one for cheaper in hope they regain their form with us.

You may not want to pay that price, but I'm sure another team can out do a 2023 3rd round pick as draft comp for this years draft, B prospect and '24 2nd but to each their own. Enjoy the deadline
