The third line has been great, and chychrun is far from necessary. Think more 4th line, depth, and a 7th D.

I doubt Arizona has much interest in that, Lohrei and the 1st are a nice start but they probably have very little interest in Grzelcyk outside of making the cap work

I don't disagree, but if you look at the last few deadlines when going for a cup, Sweeney has usually swung for the fences. Rick Nash, Charlie Coyle in 2019. Jagr in 2013

He wasn’t the GM in 2013.

None of those teams were as historically good as this one. All of those teams had major needs. This one doesn’t.

Gryz is great. In this hypothetical, I could see Ari flipping him for a 1st or something

You have to remember, Henrique has another season left under contract, meaning that we would be retaining for 1.5 seasons. It also means, we are under no pressure to move him, as we don't have an internal replacement at 1LW, and the UFA market for LW this season sucks. You need to make us an offer we can't refuse, and this isn't it. We want premium assets, which is either your 23 1st, or a 23 2nd and a blue chip prospect at a position of need.

Grzelcyk is a fine 2nd pair defenseman, that doesn't change anything about Arizona probably not having much interest in him. The above proposal looks very similar to what the Islanders traded for an unsigned Bo. 1st + good prospect + middle 6 winger/2nd pair defenseman with a couple years of term. (I do think Raty is a fair bit better prospect than Lohrei right now but Ill say they are similar for arguments sake).

It was pretty widely reported that Vancouver was looking for NHL players 25 and under in their "retool." I don't think that is Arizona's goal at all though. Take Edmonton for example, they've been one of the teams brought up around Chychrun a few times now, but they will have to move cap out to make it work. Puljujarvi or Barrie would likely end up being a cap casualty in making a trade happen but Neither of them would be viewed as a value piece in a return even if they are viewed as positive trade value from other teams POV

Certainly a fair point. I do think if the Bruins get Chych it would have to be in a 3-team trade where Gryz/Carlo go to another contender (EDM as a good fit coming to mind) for a 1st/prospect who then goes to Ari along with the Bs 1st+++.

In all seriousness, I just cant really see the Bs as a fit for Chych just based on the amount of NHLers they would have to give up to make the cap work and their shallow prospect pool. That locker room is very close and losing a Gryz/Carlo guy wouldn't be easy

They shouldn't be in on him. As it stands right now the B's top 4 have all missed pretty significant time over the last 3-4 years at one point or another. Trading for another dman who has missed even more time in that frame seems really short sighted. As good as Chychrun is it's just not a good fit with Lindholm there now IMO

Still it sure why the best team in the league needs wholesale changes. Especially ones that don’t make sense.
