Great, but 20 to 25G per year is not worth $6.7M.

Teams should wait to trade for Boeser in the off-season so VAN has to retain on the entire contract.

Yes, but the issue is the retention doesn't carry to the new contract. It would only pertain to the current.

There's no new contract, his current deal is the 6.65x3 that started this season.

A second round pick and Victor Olafsson. With his current production, you wouldn’t be able to get more unless they retained because of the salary. Not many teams can absorb that full cap hit, and Vancouver would be hard pressed to absorb a ton of money at the moment.

Would concur with these. Probably a wide range of options based on how much money involved.

Walsh + 1st - with max retained
1st - with $2-3m retained
2nd - with $1-2m retained

…or something like that. I think the Bjorkstrand comp would be about right in off-season with no salary held back.
