San Jose are sitting at 49/50 contracts. They can take on only 2 more if they send only EK back. In other words, your trade isn't reasonable because it's 3 more players than they are able to take on .... and you can't possibly make it work without those extra 3.

It's ok. Not mind blowing but reasonnable for SJ to move on.

Why target Karlsson at all? He's older, injury prone, expensive and in the middle of an unsustainable season. Buying high on a contract fraught with risk is never a good idea.
