Description
Whats your take? Seems like a trade DW would pull off if Arizona is willing to part. If so, what would it take? I went a little more than what may be needed to basically pry him from Arizona.

Yet another stab at the Meier trade saga. Blake is on the rise, and Grudinin seems fairly consistent in Russia making him a decent prospect also.

As far as Maatta, just trying to find that depth defenceman who would be servicable for the playoffs and depth. Just took a stab there also.

Hey do you just like the idea of schmaltz for Carolina or have there been actual reports of him being moved?

I havent heard any reports of him being moved. I've been kinda looking around into ideas that fit the Canes fashion of going about trades and finding someone with term. Schmaltz seems to fit that 2C role that the Canes need and gives them team control that they convet. I like the idea of it just like Henrique. For the ACGM is more of a conversation starter.

I understand what you are saying, but there is quality in there in my opinion.

Maybe that’s not enough quality especially with retention and if an extension is also agreed to but there’s a good chunk of quality in there. 23 first, an nhl ready middle 6 C type prospect in Drury plus a couple of other B/B+ younger prospects..

I just don’t see the upside with Drury he’s been good in the ahl yes but not when brought up. The 23 1st is very late, dont consider that to be a great asset either. Just done see the upside with the prospects when there are so many better in the system

I don’t think his ceiling is the highest but his floor is also an average 3C. He’s playing minimal minutes when he has sporadically been called up bc of injuries with the canes. His scoring stats certainly weren’t there but he was also playing 8-10 a game on the fourth line. His playmaking and two way game was evident though even in those limited minutes.

Again, he’s not the flashiest of prospects and upside definitely is limited but I do think he’s a quality piece in a trade like this. Not the core piece, for sure but still quality imo.

Any first is probably gonna be a late one too, just by nature or where he’s likely to be dealt.

What would you say the core piece is in this trade? A 1st rounder close to pick 30?

Yeah, probably in the 25-32 range. Which I get isn’t the most enticing and I agree this offer probably needs to get rejiggered a bit to make it more appealing. My point was I think this offer has quality components and isn’t just a bunch of quantity.

I’d say 23 first morrow 24 second and one of Gunler/Drury would be my best offer I think. Don’t really need retention.

I would do that offer. I think it’s crazy how at the start of the year Morrow was untouchable and now doesn’t seem as much so. I think Meier is worth it, guaranteed star

There’s a segment on here that’s compared him to Makar. Most of our fans get that that won’t be the case though. He’s one of our top prospects tho so he should only be available in a deal with somebody like Timo coming back versus a shorter term rental or older player.

I have no issues with the offer needing re working on my end. I've done atleast two maybe three different offers and have put thought into it. Even with it being a low first this year, its a deep draft so to speak. I've enjoyed reading both of your takes and the fact that it was reasonable.

For this reason you mention I like Sam Bennett. Haven't heard anything around him either though. He'd add some bite to the lineup and could play 2C

I agree 100%. He was someone else I've been highly interested in and looking at personally. Hes a darkhorse with the out of left field DW takes. Feel he would be an excellent fit.

I think it’s an easy comparison since they were at the same school and played the same position but that’s a tall order to compare him to. He is a very good prospect and fits San Jose’s need too

Is he more appealing to SJS than Jarvis? I don’t think Jarvis is on the table and it would be hard for me to get behind that but just wondering from their perspective. I’ve seen Jarvis on here before in trade offers (less recently bc I think the canes contingent has been loud on here about including him) but I feel like what I’ve read indicates morrow might be a better fit for what you guys are looking for even tho Jarvis is much more proven.

I would rather have Morrow, sharks have quite a few undersized wingers and D is very thin for them.

Its going to be interesting to see what the final outcome is no doubts. If DW lets go on Morrow its for a very good reason for sure.
