Trades for Kane then sticks him on the 4th line. 🤭

Chicago then tells Kane to enjoy his last months in Chicago they don't move him with retention for that, and Pat Verbeek laughs at the retention return Detroit got a 4 in the at the time upcoming draft and the 750 k minor league salary of Lashoff paid by TB (he was traded to TB who then loaned him to the Griffins) for 1.05 mil at the TDL. Verbeek was Yzerman's Assistant GM then and would want substantially more considering it's more than 2x the amount not substantially less

I'm thinking there will be some team with ~2.7 mil and a free retention spot at the TDL that would be willing to do it, but its likely not the teams everyone is thinking.

My bet is that given how hyped up this TDL is becoming, its going to be a massive letdown for everyone in terms of returns on players.

Offensive depth. Think Perry on Tampa Bays fourth line or E.Staal on Montreals fourth line when they went to finals.

Bruh. You chose Kampf, Engvall and Jarnkrok over Kane? 🤭

Listed line combos have nothing to do with ice time .. there’s PP time which Kane will get a bunch plus coming off of PK shifts or TV timeouts he’ll get shifts with Matthews, Marner, etc

Why do you think Chicago would accept trading a half retained Kane for a 3rd round pick? Your value is way off.

Because he’s been their best player for a decade and wants another shot at a cup. He’s on an expiring contract with a full NMC thus they essentially have zero leverage. Basically stated he wanted to go to Toronto or New York and NY already got Tarasenko

Essentially the same situation as when Hall forced his way to Boston and Buffalo was forced to accept a 2nd round pick in return

Some team might but not for a measley 4th 2 drafts away you want that much retention an immediate 2bd+ would be required
