Really should just be pissed if that is the actual return. At the very least the Devils kick in Foote or something.

That'd be a pretty unimpressive return for San Jose.

Yeah that's what I mean. I wanna get him as cheaply as possible but even I'm realistic, that ain't enough.

I would agree, but I feel like most of the big pieces, already moved, have also netted somewhat unimpressive returns. Still feels like less even by that standard though

The Athletic, lol. Corey Masisak is great and all but he's no insider. Some of Pronmans articles, especially on prospects are total rubbish.

Grain of salt speculation

It’s in line with Serevalli’s comps and expected returns, and he’s an actual insider

They are getting rightfully dragged in the comments, this would be a massive faliure on Grier's part if this is all he could get back, and if so, Meier should not be traded at the TDL. Also, the trade proposal from CAR of Morrow, Martinook, and the 2023 1st is clearly superior.

The Athletic literally put out a different article 2 days ago saying the ideal trade would be Meier for Holtz, Casey, 2023 1st, 2024 4th, and Johnsson

I would argue the opposite. Horvat was traded without an extension, Tarasenko (29 pts in 38 GM) had a no trade clause, and O Rielly (19 pts in 40 gm) has really struggled. Both o Reilly and Tarasenko also have been banged up. I would say all 3 had good returns.

These are different for all types of reasons
I think Horvat was a foregone conclusion based on what he signed for
Tank its just another I want NYC only. Not quite as desperate as Tor but close IMO
O'Reilly- Dubas' job on the line, if he doesn't win a round he's gone, nothin to lose but yeah too much.

I don't know if Fitz navigated it happening like this but he is not in a bad position. The usual suspects are gone, Car, Bos, Buf and I guess Win are left. Car being the biggest concern for us. Is Morrow a piece that Grier can prefer than Devs offerings? Bos is going to get a bunch of depth along with Garivkov IMO. I cant speak to Win, I hardly know what they do/need. Buf is a bit of a dark horse but it would set them up nicely moving forward.

Other than Timo, Devs still need some beefy forwards and a depth D man for the playoffs. I am hoping Fitz can find those (but he does not want rentals so theres that)
