If you are adding a prospect for contract spots, maybe don’t add a guy whom they drafted in the 1st round? Add like raska or some low level guy

Frankly Raska is higher than Wiesblatt on the depth chart. Ozzy has seriously struggled for two years now, even his last year in juniors.

Maybe take out Bouchard in the Karlsson deal then it’s closer but that is an overpayment and a half by Edmonton

That's three cap dumps in there on either overpaid or underperforming players. They're not getting Karl without Bouchard when retention is over 3 mil. Period.

I think if the ask is Morrow, there needs to be an extension in place. If not, Morrow comes off the table. Try Heimosalmi

If we are 100% confident Nikishin will be able to leave Russia when his contract there is over and he will come play here I wouldn't mind doing this trade.

Here is the LeBrun blurb on Meier:

Quoting: LeBrun
Price for Timo Meier

One of the interesting dynamics in the chase for Timo Meier is how teams are approaching it differently.

My sense is if the Devils end up with Meier, it’s got to be with the player signed to an extension.

But on the flip side, the Hurricanes are open-minded about that. They’re OK acquiring Meier and not worrying about the contract in the here and now.

Both the Devils and Hurricanes have been in regular contact with the Sharks over the past week or so.

One thing of note, because I’ve seen media speculation about what a Sharks-Hurricanes deal would look like if it came together: The Canes have indicated to teams inquiring about 21-year-old Russian Alexander Nikishin that they are not moving him. Carolina sees a big future for the defenseman within the organization.

Other potential fits for Meier? The Maple Leafs have definitely shown interest. That would be such a get for GM Kyle Dubas. I just don’t know if the Leafs have the available assets, compared to New Jersey and Carolina, to pull it off — or just how much the Leafs truly want to push on it. I can’t tell right now.

Vegas? I haven’t confirmed the Golden Knights as a true suitor for Meier, but others in the media have mentioned the idea. Obviously, they’ve got Mark Stone’s $9.5 million cap hit to play with ahead of the deadline, but how does Meier fit under the cap next season when Stone is back on the books? Maybe you just worry about it later if you’re all in like Vegas.

I don’t see the Stars as a player here. With Roope Hintz’s extension kicking in next year and the core all signed, there’s no real room to accommodate Meier past this season. A rental forward probably makes more sense for the Stars. As I’ve mentioned before, Patrick Kane would make sense that way. But there are other rental forwards down the list, too.

I think Grier would do everything in his power to get Morrow.

If Morrow, Tieksola, 2024 1st, 2023 2nd is the hurdle NJD need to jump, we will get there.

At that point, he needs to get Meier signed for less than Svechnikov

He's been crying bc Nemec is unavailable and will take vastly inferior prospects and packages from every other team

See it’s statements like these where we stop taking what you’re saying seriously. Laughable.

Depends on how you guauge prospects but in the way that I do, Morrow is comfortably above Muk and Casey. Not saying those two aren't good, they are. Just that Morrow is a full tier above.
