I don’t think you’ll need to part with Holtz to get Meier.

There’s not a lot of teams who are contending who can afford the QO. Carolina sees him only as a rental, NJD can and Buffalo was only just checking in.

Meier will get a 2023 first and a A~ to B+ prospect and a mid tier roster player. He will be viewed as a rental by the majority of teams

You're not getting him without a high end prospect. That is the ask. Grier is happy to re-sign him if the offers are not up to par.

Carolina is set up to have more cap space than NJ in the offseason. Carolina is also likely get a better price because they're willing to trade him without an extension, while Fitz isn't.

No news in either direction. If you hear anything, let us know!

As far as I know we have Grier expressing his interest to resign Meier, SJ saying they would let teams talk extension with Meier if there's a trade on the table they like, and Meier's camp reportedly saying contract talks start at 9m. SJ extended Hertl long term while they were sucking and a lot of trade rumors were surrounding Hertl, so really don't know what Grier's move is going to be. There is probably more being offered from other teams for Meier than there was for Hertl

Timos agent nor Mike Grier have ruled it out.

I think their best return would come from NJD with extension...but that may not be an option.

O the pain of having to accept a high end return when someone Qualifies him lol
They still get back atleast two 1st ,2nd and a 3rd from anyone who wants him come summer.
Its why no one's shook about his qualifying offer at all

Carolina doesn't see him as a rental. There's been some misunderstanding. They have said they are not worried about working out an extension with the player in advance and are happy to deal with it after the trade. But no doubt in my mind they do intend to extend him. They would not offer a nice package if they weren't. I don't think they would want to go down the road of QO and then flip him again. They want him long term.
