That's a pretty good haul for Timo Meier.

I think this is similar to what the last offer from the Canes is/was. There may be some sort of goalie prospect or conditional additional pick in there as well. Canes don’t have high level goalie prospects (SJ already has one of them from Burns trade).

One of NJs guys is playing in net for them tonight, I think they are going to make a strong push for him.

I wonder if they are showcasing him or if they want to know if the other guy is expandable.

I have a feeling a deal is already in place, and will be announced Sunday/Monday after Patty's jersey retirement game tonight.

Bump that 2024 2nd up to a 1st and I think thats it. We shall see.

I like Nikita Quapp but his upside is still unclear. He's too raw.

I'll be cautious and say we're not getting two 1sts and Scott Morrow + Gunler. But then again Grier is extremely high on Timos value.

The Devils have the edge in young roster players, top end prospects - including goalie prospects. They aren’t willing to trade their best prospect or Mercer from what I’ve heard. If the Devils will this sweepstakes - they will have to cut pretty deep into players they will need this year or next 2-3.

If the Canes win this sweepstakes, they will cut deep in futures, but have the luxury of not touching players impacting their window now.

Top prospect in their pipeline (Morrow), 2 1sts, a B+ prospect with an elite shot (Gunler), and a conditional pick or goalie prospect should get this done.

Funny thing - Canes can afford to give the futures discussed. An owner out in the media saying they are going to be aggressive, and are on a 120+ point season pace.

Think the Canes get this done soon.

As he should be, and those are two very late firsts. We shall see.

It just makes sense. Juicy 2 year window until a few contracts are up + Pacioretty injury.

I think so too. Allegedly the Sharks turned down Blues offer of two 1sts so I think a deal with Carolina is already done unless NJ swoops in and offers Nemec+

any of Arseni/Mukh/Casey>>> Gunler

It's about need. Sharks need a standout rhd prospect. That's Morrow, not Muk. Id much rather Morrow over Holtz

Rumour is Grier asked Nemec and NJ shut it down.

Carolina has a more interesting pipeline and more flexibility. If NJ won't move with Nemec then I think Grier has moved on, hopefully. Also NJ requires an extension to be done first, Carolina does not.

This isn't even a NJD proposal post, lmao! Y'all can pawn Holtz on to someone else.

Morrow>Casey all day long

Imo Morrow is one of the top 5 D prospects in the league.

No reason to argue with sjbackseatgm or sleeparc, they are incapable of giving proper prospect evaluations and just go off their own personal feelings. If you wanna have a logical conversation with a sharks fan see the following: papishark, klara, glarson17

Anybody who pays attention to rankings know Holtz/Casey is a better package than Morrow/Gunler

The gap between Morrow and Casey is less than the gap between Holtz and Morrow, and certainl less than the gap between Holtz and a B-/C+ like Gunler.

Is Gunler even a better prospect than Graeme Clarke?

Careful, if I bring in actual stats I could start a holy war! Gunlers PNHLe is 35 and Clarkes PNHLe is 47. But yes let’s declare Gunler a B+ prospect just cause!!

There’s a lot of hatred because we drew the line at Hughes/Nemec/Mercer. So in the sense of pride these select SJ fans will take a lesser package just to stick it to us

Put Gunler in the devils system and he'd be like the 12th best young asset they could offer
edit: and worthless to these 2 sharks fans*

Yeah like I said there are more than a few logical sharks fans on this site and they’ve said themselves 1st/Holtz/Casey beats this

I actually do read scouting reports. I don't have time to sit here and post microstats all day and argue with incompetent devils fans about the merits of prospect evaluation. I have a full time job and a other humans that depend on me.

Honestly you don't fully know with prospects, no one does except for the truly elite players like McDavid.

At the very least I stay on topic. Yes I say one guy is better than another guy based on my observations. That's my subjective opinion. A few devils fans on here take this hyper personal. Relax, it's hockey. You don't like my opinion? Fine. You want to voice it in a public forum? Fine.

I'm not a scout and neither are you.

Now can we get back to hockey talk or are we going to argue over which of us is the best armchair GM all day?
