It's not necessarily a low offer but the retention is a lot.

I can't see the Canucks retaining that much and taking Riley back for that offer

1. That’s not buying low.
2. That’s a big time overpay
3. The NHL has a salary cap.
4. He doesn’t make the team better.
5. He makes it harder to re-sign pastrnak.

Real bad idea for boston.

I think if they had that offer on the table for Boeser they would take it for sure, especially after acquiring another winger in Kravtsov.

That isn't really a buy low offer. If anything, I'd say it's between the right value and a slight overpay. However, that deal doesn't make sense for either team. The Bruins should be saving their money to resign Pasta, making a deal like this pretty much guarantees Boeser is coming in to replace Pasta since you won't have the cap space to resign him. Canucks are trying to move Boeser to create cap space, don't see them wanting to retain $2.5 mil plus take on Reilly's $3 mil, it's only a cap savings of about $1 mil.

I wonder if Conner Garland would make more sense for this type of trade although I can’t see Van retaining for that long on anyone unless there’s some sort of secret knowledge among GMs that the cap will be 6+ million more in a few years!
