may have to double check the miller trade, IF you want Vancouver to retain salary on the 8 mil x 7 year contract you may have to wait until free agency.

Definitely not. Miller’s contract isn’t great, but it’s not completely terrible, especially for a team like Pittsburgh who has 2-3 years left to contend

I'm pretty sure the percentage carries over to the extension. So, as the OP says it is 25% retention on both the current contract and then applies to the extension.

Canucks decline. You’re asking them to retain over $15 million for a couple of seconds. Miller’s contract may not be great, but he’s still a near PPG player who the Canucks committed to over Horvat. They won’t let him go for that cheap, especially with that much retention.
