Stanley is dust, not worth it for really anything, not to mention Hirvonen is actually decent.
Tufte I believe was on waivers earlier this year. He’s a nothing piece. Nick Robertson is still only 21 years old, why sell when his value is at its lowest?
Murray shouldn’t cost that much, if anything to dump. We got him when he had 2 years left on his deal and were paid a 3rd + 7th to take him. He’ll now only have 1 year left on his deal, has actually had a decent year when he’s played, and has an incredibly low buyout cost if I’m not mistaken. At most he costs the same to dump as what we got to take him, which is less than this.
Stanley isn't dust my friend. He is not a top 4 D either.
He is solid as a bottom pairing D, who last year was playing 15 minutes a game, and on the PK. As I said, the Jets always had better options, and that tree is bearing fruit.
Hirvonen is one of a dozen undersized bottom 6 forwards in the Leafs bin. He is perhaps more NHL ready than most, but to be frank, an undersized forward is not what the team needs.
Yeah, Tufte cleared waivers. But all season we have seen some odd decisions on the waiver wire (can we say Tolvanen?) and typically 4th liners are not nabbed, which is what Tufte is..... but has the size and IQ (which I mentioned) to be a good one. Robertson maybe just 21, but he has spent more time on the IR than on the ice..... and changing the scenery for him maybe beneficial for the Leafs. Cut and move forward. Just because he is young, those injuries have tanked his value. And.... the Leafs really need another undersized forward.
Moving Murray at this juncture makes sense imo. He has been good when on the ice, but moving down some spots to free up cash is where I go over a buyout. Cap is valuable.
