Trade The Kids And Win Now

Created by: LloydminsterLarry
Team: 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 12, 2023
Published: Mar. 12, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With the team below we have a much more balanced team that will give up less scoring opportunities. We also have a second PP unit that’s as good as most first units and 2 PK units of equal quality. Skinner would get the majority of the work load but Rittich has proven himself a perfectly capable backup.

My favourite part about this is that you added 3 more former Leafs to this team

CHI says "Sure" but let's be honest it's gonna cost a lot more than that to unload Campbell's awful contract.

Even at 4.5, that is still too much for a backup. The Canes have Koochie to be the starter, either next year or in 2025. Campbell could make sense, but unless there is more retention or Edmonton is giving up more to actually dump him, cause that package won’t be enough, I doubt the Canes take him. And it’s not like the Oilers have much that would really interest the Canes.

I'm not sure what more they could offer, those are two of their top 5 prospects, including their top prospect in Broberg. Now if that doesn't mean much because Carolina doesn't have time to develop them, that's something, but there's a ton of value here to take Campbell.

The Oilers are not giving up a young, cheap, NHL ready defenceman to get rid of Campbell's contract.

Broberg alone should be enough.

And Broberg is already playing . He’s already coming alone as far as being developed. You’d think they’d want him to be their second LHD behind Slavin for years to come.
