Salary Cap Mode: Basic

Description

For the record I don't like it. It relies way too much on UFAs and trading away futures to make a somewhat competitive team but it just pushed cap problems further and further down the road.

It also requires Pearson and Poolman to stay on LTIR, and who knows what the FAs will take.

That said, the team probably does make playoffs.

If CHI ends up tanking again next year for Celebrini AND they trade Murphy, maybe they do this. It's definitely not the compensation that is in question here, it's CHI's roster space.

Fair enough. I don't really care about Blais specifically, it was more just getting Rathbone somewhere else

I hear ya, but the Blues have too many small offensive LDs as is.

A top 6 winger on pace for 60 points for 3.5M gets a lot more than a 3rd

Make this trade after July 1, Van pays the 5m signing bonus, then buy out Zaitsev?

It's possible. There seems to be a lot of doubt about Mitchell getting an extension with CHI and I doubt Regula is ready for full time in the NHL. So, if we move one or both of Murphy and Zaitsev (buyout), then yeah I could see CHI taking on that cap dump.
