Canucks want to have their own version of Chatfield. Understandable considering that Benning utterly squandered him in favor of Tucker...Poolman. Wolanin's a very good bet to continue giving good bottom-pair play, however.

You can never criticize the signing of an experienced veteran depth player to a minimum-level contract.

Idk how he's been at the NHL level, but I'm so happy he's found a home in Vancouver. Good guy, and he was a favourite of mine in Ottawa, even though he was never the same after the leg injury

He's leading all AHL defenceman in scoring and he last played in the AHL a month ago. He's also been very solid for the Canucks since being called up. Great deal for the Canucks

Solid depth player. If he had been in the NHL from the start of the season, then he likely would be doing even better. It takes a bit to adjust.

At worst, Wolanin is an amazing AHL player and a solid injury call-up. However, with his current play, he's likely going to be bottom pair at the start of next year. He might even see time in the top four.

On a side note, I love the idea of signing players to 2-year contracts at league minimum to fill out depth. This way you have continuity on the fourth line / bottom pair.
