The Rags can't trade what isn't theirs, that Stars pick could end up as St. Louis' pick. You can't even make it the Rags pick. The only thing you can do is make it the earlier of the Rags 2 1sts so that the conditions on the Tarasenko trade aren't affected.

The Rangers traded the later of their 2 1sts to the Blues as part of the Tarasenko trade. Therefore until that condition is met they can't trade either pick, unless you make it the earlier of their picks since the final standings are not known yet.

Rd is not a shortage... that is incorrect....they just have more Ld and they have lots of def.. So both picks will be forwards this time... They have Barron and savard and Mailloux and hutson plays rd even though he is left handed and harris played alot of Rd as well... So yes if they draft a def later they would prefer Rd the big need on the habs is for game breaking forwards with size and goalies
