I don't get the logic here. If the Big 3 retire out of the blue, this team's window slams closed and gets gorilla glued shut. We'd be rebuilding. Simple as that.
Let the guys in the system get long looks at the NHL. Free agents can fill in some of the cracks.
Under these circumstances, there's no reason to sell POJ and Smith, no reason to buy Duclair, no reason to be giving away picks.
And get ready to listen to offers on everyone old enough to be a UFA. Guentzel, Pettersson, Zucker, everyone.
Prepare to tear everything down for a shot at Macklin Celebrini or Michael Misa or Gavin McKenna or something. Knowing this team, we'll stumble into another transcendent talent or two.

As others have said, if the core retires you trade everyone immediately. And they would most likely waive their clauses since the team would suck.
