  1. Myers, Philippe
  2. Seabrook, Brent
  3. 2024 4th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
This is a cap dump trade and shedding Seabs contract will allow TBL to accrue cap space during the season. Part of the reason Jeannot and Hagel were so expensive was because TBL couldn't accrue cap space.

CHI
  1. Mantha, Anthony
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
$5.7M off the books should be able to get Tarasenko and/or Orlov back.

I previously tried the Mrazek approach, but that's not looking plausible anymore. Maybe moving up from the TBL pick...maybe, but I personally wouldn't do it. Too Deep of a draft after picks 6oa/7oa.

I could see Kurashev getting a bigger deal, either more years or more dollars. He's been good, and definitely part of our future. Think theres a good chance we chase Domi as well. Could see them looking at Cal Peterson from LA. Lotta room to make some deals.

I still think their first choice is to add Mantha in as part of a larger deal but if he becomes a pure dump then this is around the price I expect them to pay

Good point I simply forgot to add Domi.

I don’t think it’ll take a 2nd to move Bailey probably a 3rd then maybe if needed a 5th or 6th

I've seen a number of NYI posts with this trade. It's one that seems to get general acceptance. Maybe another team might do the 3rd? Maybe. I just don't think it'll be the Hawks. With Dickinson/Zaitsev it seems like a 2nd is how it starts and then if the Hawks need to send something back...so be it. Those are more minor issues.

Dickinson and Zaitsev had multiple year contracts. Bailey only has 1 year.

But Dickinson's cap hit is basically half and Zaitsev had a 2nd, 4th, and a TDL trade. Which means its still just 1 Start of a season when teams need to get under the cap. The Hawks don't care about Zaitsev's hit right now.

Dickinson is also as good as an AHL player and Zaitsev again has 1 more year at pretty much the same cap hit playing on a 7th d man level.

Not to mention the Canucks also got Stillman in the deal which added some value going their way.

Oh, 100%! What I meant by starts with a 2nd and then figure stuff out is the Hawks can send something else back. We still have ALOT of Dprospects even after Stillman was traded away. I could send Caleb Jones your way or if you're looking for a younger prospect maybe Galvas? Plenty of lower cap forward prospects as well.

I hear you about literally 1 year more for Zaitsev, but it's really not the same. Dickinson will need to have fit under the cap twice. Zaitsev just once and Bailey just once. We may not share the opinion and that's ok.

Im okay with the dumps, just hopeful if this panned out that we could squeeze a little more out of TBL and get a 3rd, even if we send a prospect back like Mitchell rights etc.

Tears me up that Mitchell's come down to this. Had such high hopes, but I understand his frustration.

Me too. I honestly thought he would have been a mainstay by now but his development hasn't been handled great and his injury's have come at horrible times.

Exactly, and while I agree with everything you said...life sometimes just isn't fair. You get the hand you're dealt. He's had 78 games in the NHL. I'd still personally like to have him back next year, but we'll see.

Caps pass. They aren't paying to move Mantha. They'll see if a new coach utliizes him properly. Or they'll switch him for another struggling player.

Why do you WANT another struggling player? Why not go sign Tarasenko or Bertuzzi or Orlov back and actually make your team better? Don't you think Ovi Backstrom Oshie want to pull out the stops for a cup?

Because Mantha is actually a very good player that Lavi wasn't utilizing properly. No point in spending good asset to move him when a new coach can get Mantha to the player he can be.

What in his 8 year career says he's a very good player worthy of $5.7M? He's been healthy 2-3 years out of 8.

Because in his last 3 years with DET (a historically terrible team) he averaged almost 55 points per 82 game season and had elite possession stats. The chances of the being a fluke is very very very low. With a proper coach that utilizes his talents properly he could be a 60+ maybe more player.

I really just think this is basic bias. He's one of the most injured players in the entire NHL if not the most injured. AND he's not even that good when healthy. 2017 he had a good year. But even then still not worth $5.7M. 2019-2020 he had a hot start, but an entire career is worth FAR FAR FAR more than a hot start. He really is a PURE cap dump.

He's not that injured LOL He had one bad shoulder surgery. And again, all the numbers show he's a very very very good player. Just a shame Lavi put him on the 3rd line with no PP time. If he got top 6 linemates and PP time he would have hit 60 points here, easy. But alas, he must have kicked Lavi's dog.

But he's never achieved that. Ever. He's never got 50 points. That's what I don't understand. And bubble aside (less games overall) he's managed 70 games in a season once. I'm reading your statements and then I go look and....the facts don't match. It's not just Lavi because he couldn't do the stuff your saying in DET either. Your "per 82" is because he's always injured. It's just cherry picking a stat and inflating it.

Yeah. For whatever reason, CHI's coaching staff doesn't seem to like what Mitchell brings to the table. The times when they did utilize him properly, he had success and looked really good, but then they switch right back to putting him in "no win" situations or just simply scratch him for long periods of time. I still think, if Mitchell is put in the right situation, he is going to be successful in the NHL. That situation just isn't going to be CHI, most likely.

He litereally did do it in DET. I said per 82 games. He was fantastic on a terrible DET team. He should have easily hit 60 points at least with the Caps talent but Lavi put him on the 3rd line with no PP time. He's a fantastic player, just needs a coach that will utilize him properly.
