Not sure what Dumbas next contract will be but this seems reasonable. I think he’s a little better defensively than Severson so I’d prioritize him first. I also think he’d be a good pair with Maatta allowing him to freelance a lil more.
Zadina needs a fresh start, car seems like a good fit, not sure how high they are on Chatfield, he looks to be a average bottom pairing guy and he’s a MI native.

Car only brings back one goalie, so sign the other, I took Freddie in this scenario

Canes like Chatfield and there is no reason for them to trade a solid bottom pairing defender who fits our system well and is on a league min deal. Should we also trade Skjei to the Wild because he’s a Minnesota native?

I could see the Canes buying low on Zadina, but Chatfield isn’t being moved. Besides, Zadina is hardly even worth a 4th, so why would the Canes overpay for him?

I'm not paying killorn or Compher 6million a season and I doubt we pay dumba or severson what they ask for. I'm in favor of paying for a goalie to help Husso. I'd do the Zadina deal but I just don't think teams give up anything of substance from him.

I'd rather avoid spending big money and term on UFA's. If we're going to take the next step it'll have to be through trades and/or the young guys emerging.

Yeah it's a very shallow pool of UFA's. Young players get better. Old players just get older. Generally speaking.

I honestly think it's all mental with him and he just needs a fresh start... playing loose and without many expectations, for a notoriously player-driven coach like Brind'Admour is exactly what he needs
