Detroit's not giving up the assets that Vancouver would require for EP, Allvin/Rutherford will want Seider for a starter and that's a no go. Plus you're looking at probably $10,500,000+ per long term to sign him.

Detroit declines. Love EP but this is just running the franchise into the ground.

Completely agree. I just keep seeing lowball offers for Pettersson on here and this is probably what it would take.

Edvinsson projects to be a similar player to Seider and has 3 more years left on his entry level deal whereas Seider will need a 8-9 mil extension in the near future.

The only issue is, That Vancouver is like Detroit they're deep at LD but not RD. So Seider would still entice them more than Edvinsson would. And the 8-9 mil aside pretty sure vancouver would still want Seider ahead of Edvinsson.

Sure if he ever made it to free agency, But we all know that's not happening. If for some reason he refused to sign with Vancouver. he's probably traded to a team that extends him immediately. And that won't be Detroit.

Wings have lots of good RFAs to sign soon, so they keep their cap for these players. Yzerman and his Tampa team, developed their own players and kept them. Tampa trade for many "stars" (if any) . Gotta think he's going the same route with the Wings. Just keep our own.

If he really wants out of Vancouver he'll sign a one year arbitration contract and hit the free market. Detroit should be on the upswing by then with tons of cap space available and brand ambassadors Zetterberg and Lidstrom on the conference call. I think it's more possible than you're making it out to be

If he wants out of Vancouver, Than vancouver will trade him to the team that makes the best offer. And i can guarantee you it won't be Detroit if Seider is involved.

That’s a pretty big if. What makes you think he would want to sign in Detroit anyway?

Vancouver would be crazy to pass on this offer, I certainly wouldn't do it

There is just no possible way any team can trade for Pettersson without losing the trade

Seider is a must. It isn’t hard to comprehend. Canucks asking for Seider when trading a top 10 center is justified

Like I said, when Pettersson hits UFA Detroit will be one of the only teams ready to compete with enough cap space to sign him.

Larkin + Raymond + Berggren + Kasper + Seider + Edvinsson + Wallinder + Cossa + 8 picks in the top 50 this year and next? Why wouldn't he want to sign in Detroit?

I disagree, Edvinsson would be stuck as a 2nd paring D here, Kasper I am not the highest on, think he will at max be a solid 2nd like center, the 1st is really the only thing of interest here, no real reason for us to bite and move a top 10 center in the leauge for this package

Because he'd have to live in Detroit

With 80 million dollars he could live anywhere he wants and still win cups in detroit

It's not guaranteed he'd win a cup in Detroit, Vancouver can easily match 80 mill, there is no real logical reason for him to downgrade to Detroit

Sounds like a lot of pricy players that would make Pettersson unaffordable

This offer is probably close to fair in value. However, I think the Canucks still decline. While the value is there, the Canucks have absolutely no reason to trade their franchise centrepiece unless he refuses to sign an extension and demands a trade. It would take a massive overpay to pry him away from Vancouver, and while this is very good value, it isn't enough of an overpay to convince Vancouver to trade their franchise centrepiece.
