Scheifele

Created by: Grapevine
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 8, 2023
Published: Apr. 8, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Avs fans would this deal interest you this summer? I think Scheifele can be had at about 8 million per year. If the cap goes up by 3-4 million and you can get a cheap backup goalie, you could pay him and Toews.

And why on God's green earth would the Jets have interest in Girard??

Morrissey, Poink, Schmidt, Samberg, Heinola, Demelo and Dillon are 7 reasons they won't.

No incentive for Winnipeg to do that.

Trade Dillon for starters and maybe Demelo.

Or the Jets keep them, move them at the deadline for futures and use Samberg and Heinola in the 4 and 5 slot in a year, signing a UFA next year to fill it all out.

If the Jets move Scheifle it will be for a young player and futures.

If the Jets window is closing, it is all about futures, and Girard ain't that.

Right idea, wrong organization.

Honestly, Do people on here ever pay attention to other teams needs, LD is the very last thing Winnipeg like Detroit needs. Both teams need more RD help not the other.

Girard can play both sides, but still not something the Jets look at.

But honestly, to answer the question I don't think so.

Why when I do an ACGM I explain the deal. Some see it some don't; but at least I look at a roster to see a possible fit lol.

What part of LD helps that Winnipeg doesn't need it's getting through to people. Come on people wake up. And besides Girard a 1st and 3rd for Mark Scheifele at 50% retained isn't enough.

laugh Cold day in hell before Matt Dumba signs for 2 x $3,000,000 he's going to get tons of suitors. Try more like 5 x $5,000,000 to 5 x $5,500,000 per at minimum.

Dude you're a Jets fan, And you honestly think you need more LD help. And your Matt Dumba signing is even more laughable.

COL isn’t skipping 2 drafts for a guy that they can’t re-sign.

Nope, not a hope in hell of the Avs doing that imo. No interest in Scheifele. He's a pure rental.

As other of your fellow Winnipeg fans have stated it's the wrong pieces for a trade with Winnipeg as well.

Girard is 24 years old. How is he not the future?

Because a team that rebuilds isn't looking for a player whose contract nears expiry when the team's window reopens.

Girard is a solid player. But a deal with a blueline rich Jets teams IS NOT A FIT.

I will site the Chychurn deal to Ottawa. 2 years ago, this is a deal the Sens do not make. The rebuild was still on. Stützle was in his sophomore season, and the Sens needed to see what he would be (and he is something), Batherson was just becoming relevant, Norris entered his rookie season, Zub rookie season, Tkachuk was still figuring out his game. To many unknowns to entertain moving asset for a young defender.

Fast forward, where Stützle looks like he could be a 100 point centre, Batherson may have one of the best contracts in the league, Norris looks like he could be a PPG centre, Zub is sex on a stick, Sanderson is now added.... Chychurn moves the needle big time.

I can employ the same thinking to the Meier deal to New Jersey as well.

Girard to the Jets does NONE OF THIS for Winnipeg.

Girard to the Ducks may have some merit (although I would say that maybe a year early). Girard to Buffalo absolutely has legs (Sabres are exactly where the Sens are). Even Girard to Detroit may have some merit, looking at where the Wings are.

But the Jets?

Accept this isn't a fit and try again.

If a divisional rival wants Scheifele they will have to overpay for him, and overpay even more if they expect Winnipeg to retain.

Colorado doesn't have much for prospects for this trade to make sense since they traded picks and prospects in other deals.
