Wrong kind of defenseman plus I think Pat keeps Comtois and gives him a last run with a real HC

There's no urgency to move Murphy but I bet CHI would take this.

It's a fine deal. Jokers really rounded out his defensive game and he's not exactly undersized, I think he'd do alright with us.

We've got an internal replacement for Comtois much as I'd like to hang onto him, we don't enough RHD ready to make the jump.

Not a fan of that idea. He'd be no better (but probably not worse) than Shattenkirk so at that point either re-sign Shatty for 2M or sign a better UFA defender or get a guy that's a cap dump from some where.

I'm also clearly biased to the keep Comtois side of things and obviously opinions vary quite a bit on that.

What kind of defenseman would be suitable? I was just thinking a positional swap of two players who could reach better potential if given more opportunity.

For the sake of the franchise's future I would hope they take this trade or something similar. The sooner you can trade away assets that will net positive gains in a rebuilding franchise the better. Holding on to players will only prolong the rebuild.

Just out of curiosity what proposal within reason would make it go from "probably" to "absolutely?" Having it be a 2023 2nd instead of 2024? Or adding a Bish prospect?

No, Rosen and a 2nd is a very solid offer. I'd take that. I only say "probably" because our new GM Davidson has yet to make a trade where part of the return to the Hawks is a high end prospect. He seems to favor picks over prospects. For all I know, he may not want Rosen (he should!) and the ask might be a 1st or two 2nds.

Anything with a 1st in it is probably in the "absolutely" category.
