Palat was hurt for much of the season. Hard really to make such a judgement before we even get to playoffs, where he has earned his reputation.

Palat has been money in the playoffs. He has a knack for scoring big goals.

I assume Ottawa is just a filler team for the Palat trade but I'll bother to mention that Ottawa absolutely cannot fit him under the cap

Vancouver passes.

And Palat isn't waiving for Ottawa either.

i was upset with the signing when it happened, i’m not really upset with his performance. It’s far too long for an aging player and too much money for a guy of his caliber to begin with. Even if he does come up clutch in the playoffs, it’s still an abysmal contract. That cap space is way more valuable than he’ll ever be, i guarantee that.

The only way it’ll look like a good move is if he carries them to a cup, which i seriously doubt

I see that you know that the Canucks aren’t going to trade QH43, but this is a reasonable deal, might take a little more but thanks for not insulting him

This team needed veterans at the time we made the deal. So we overpaid a bit. It is not a worrisome contract. And I don’t think Gaudreau would have been the better signing.

May need a vet D man next year but Bahl has settled in nice. With Luke being a left shot RD and Nemec being a strict RD is LD where they look? Is Graves brought back? Before Bahl started paying well (I wanted him moved in the Timo trade, but have come around on him lately) I thought maybe a Carson Soucy. Late bloomer has the size Fitz likes 6'5 211! Good buds with Nate Bast, a UFA at 28 yrs making $2.75M playing 16 min per. Anyway Nemec Luke and Bahl as bottom 3 seems pretty green to me. D would potentially take a step back.

Any team would find it tough replacing Graves and Sever same offseason ... Hughes, Nemec and Bahl far from that quality next season. Certainly agree a step back in 23/24 for the blueline, but future is bright. Bahl has really impressed last few games. Wish they'd give Hughes some time in AHL, but I don't see the marketing department letting that happen
