Extending Lindholm should be the #1 priority for the Flames this off-season

In the off-chance he doesn’t want to re-sign and would agree to go to CLB on a Sign & Trade, I think we’d want Kent Johnsson + Boone Jenner + Adam Boqvist + either Emil Bemstrom or Mathieu Olivier

Picks are useless to the Flames, they’re not in a rebuild and so they need Players I’m return

What if they draft fourth overall?

Jenner isn’t available, and Calgary would hardly be interested for that for Lindholm.

And if Columbus has fourth overall, they regrettably probably take Smith or Benson over Michkov.

Sounds like lindholm is gone. His return will be closer to what Horvat got. So maybe Kings first/23 second/ Roslovic/DBB/ and lower prospect or pick. Definitely will not be getting Kent Johnson. Boone Jenner won’t be traded. He’s the captain and is on a good contract

Yeah, we’ll just wait and move him at the Deadline if he decides not to extend, same goes for Backlund

They’re obviously frustrated by how this season ended and might not be willing to extend until they see what the group looks like and how they play together next season, but it’s all just speculation at this point that they’d want out of CGY. I’d be very surprised if either gets moved in the off-season

We also still need a GM, since Treliving hasn’t been or extended his contract either, so lots to figure out yet

He'll still be the 1C for the future, no need to buy high on Lindholm for one year. They're set down the middle.

You're absolutely delusional with what you expect Lindholm to return. He's pretty much on par with Boone and you expect a premium 20 year old foward who's capable of playing top 6 mins already, a 22 year old RD who would likely take over as the Flames leading defensive scorer within a season and another roster player on top of Boone? Ridiculous.

Well thanks for letting me know how you feel, now allow me to retort

Elias Lindholm on par with Boone Jenner, are you kidding me right now!?

Lindholm >>> Jenner

Lindholm is an All-Star who was Runner-Up to Winning the Selke Trophy last season, which is Awarded to the Best Defensive Forward in the League; he has been noninated 3 times. He’s also been Nominated TWICE for the Byng Trophy. The guys an absolute Stud Hockey Player

Other than being nominated for the Calder = Rookie of the Year, Jenner has received none of those accolades and has never come close to Scoring 40 Goals or putting up over 1.00PPG+ in a Season EVER. Don’t get me wrong, Jenner is a fine 2C, but Lindholm is a Great 1C

So yeah, I’m expecting a lot for Lindholm, certainly more than a High Draft Pick who “may” become as good as Lindholm some day and who has only put up 1 good season thus far + a good Young RD who struggles to stay healthy and is nowhere near as good or valuable as Rasmus Andersson, Weegar or Hanifin. To think Boqvist would simply just step in and beat all 3 offensively within a season is actual “delusional” thinking

Bemstrom & Olivier are throw-ins with little to no value. Bemstrom could have been had this year for free when he was placed on waivers and Olivier, who is maybe worth a Late Pick or Future Considerations, could also very likely be Picked Up for Free off Waivers Next season as well

CLB should probably keep Johnston & Jenner for their rebuild and not Trade for Lindholm anyways, but that’s exactly the type of trade and cost it would take to pry Lindholm away from CGY OR the type of Bidding War and carrots that would need to be dangled for CGY to deal him to CLB

Lindholm’s a trade Value is probably more on par with Jack Eichel Post Neck Surgery, so go look at what he brought in return for BUF as a comparable

Lindholm >> Bo Horvat too. Horvat is decent offensively, but is absolutely nowhere near as good defensively

Both Jenner & Horvat are Left Shot Centres as well, which are far easier to find than Right Shot Centres like Lindholm & Eichel, who are rarely ever made available

Absolutely delusional. Lindholm was carried by two superior players last year and he came crashing back down to reality this year. He's a 60-65 point center at best when he has to carry a line himself. He's a slightly better Brendan Morrisson. He's not even close to the level of player Eichel is and he's a fair bit behind even Horvat. Also spell Johnson's name correctly if you're going to mention him. He'll be outpacing Lindholm with ease next year.

Whatever dude. You’re entitled to your opinion and to live in your own reality. Either that or you’re a complete troll and you’re just here to agitate ppl

You’re substantially under valuing Lindholm who only fell back to 0.80PPG with a revolving door of LW’s and last season wasn’t the only year he put up close to 1.00PPG btw

Also, Johnny Gaudreau had a substantially far worse fall from grace after losing his #1 Centre in Lindholm and RW in Tkachuk. Tkachuk was the only one able to maintain his numbers

I’d much rather have Lindholm @ $4.85 and then $7-8.5mil/yr after than than Eichel who has never scored 40 Goals in a season and who likely never plays an entire season ever again @ $10mil/yr. They’re pretty equal in play, but Lindholm is just as, if not more valuable AFAIC

Anyways, I have a feeling you’re stuck on your opinion of him and I can’t imagine many guys agreeing with you, so enjoy Johnson and finishing in or near last place for the foreseeable future

I'm accurately valuing Lindholm. He's an average center who's putting up average production in a year where scoring is up significantly. He doesn't have half the value that Johnson does and he's going to be disgustingly overpaid in the near future just like the majority of the Flames other "star" players. Good luck with your next 8 years of finishing just outside the playoffs and then another 8 years rebuilding.
