This might be one of the worse AGM for MTL

Montreal says we're not giving away a top ten pick in a rebuild for a player that WILL COME TO US FOR FREE IN A YEAR. The rebuild is going to take time, getting PLD earlier than we should and at the cost of potentially core pieces doesn't help. He either will come to us, if so great, or he won't, if so we don't lose anything from him not coming to Montreal.

Vancouver says no.

That 1st is nice but not enough for Winnipeg to take on a cap dump, a bad contract and a prospect with no value to them and Montreal isn't trading their first anyways.

I've spent several minutes thinking about this overall scheme, and for the life of me, I can't imagine a worse strategic plan for Montreal than trading away both first-round picks in this draft. The fifth overall could well turn out to be a better player than the soon-to-be-available-for-free DuBois and the 17th overall could turn out to be a better player than Boeser. (The amusing part is that Vancouver would still say No.)

Take out Allen & Hoffman and add Gallagher and VAN does that trade.

Taking back Hoffman and Allen would be much better than taking back Gallagher. Only way I’d consider taking Gallagher is if Montreal takes OEL

I agree but it actually feels pretty close though. Add a B level prospect and they do it

I think taking out Allen helps as well. Don’t really want his salary coming back

You might be able to retain and flip him to someone for a mid to late round pick

So... On that Suzuki line... Who is going to go to the boards and in the corners to dig out the puck? Basically you traded Hoffman and a 1st for younger Hoffman. If you think that Boeser line will work, the line should also work with Hoffman cause they play a similar style.
