CBJ pass. I'd rather have three years at $4M than two at $8M, plus Guds' contract isn't an awful buy-out, if need be. Not to mention things did not end very well between CBJ's front office and RyJo, so not sure they'd want to dip back into that.

This trade will never happen but I actually don’t hate it. Jackets don’t need the cap next year so might as well get a stopgap center. This buys time for our first pick and sillinger to develop more while making the jackets more competitive next year. Also clears up a log jam at RD

Agreed, plus the simple math of $16M owed (RyJo's cap hit is entirely salary) vs. $11M owed (Gudbranson's $4M AAV comes from $5M salary this year, $4M next, $3.5M next two) for a franchise that doesn't spend unnecessary money.

Personally, I like the premise, and it wouldn't be the first time CBJ trade 1 for 1 for a former Jacket with a higher cap hit and lesser term (Voracek for Atkinson). I'd rather have RyJo, but money and history are huge factors here.

I could see Barrie getting a 2nd+ at the deadline, but not during the off-season. DET seems like the wrong team to be interested in a vet rental anyway.

No thanks on Gudbrandon. He's not half the player Johansen is, and no thanks on the extra year of term.

That new contract for Carrier feels high to me. I think $1.5-2M is more likely.

I can't see Tarasenko settling for a one year deal.
