Without the 2nd maybe but if we are trading Gibby it’s because Dostal is ready to roll as our new starter which makes this more complicated imo

Vancouver has no reason to trade Demko for an older goalie who makes 1.5 million a year more.

Canucks decline, you'd have to add a lot more than that. Or do the Canucks a monsterous favor by taking on OEL for free essentially.

Younger upgrade on shorter term for cheaper. Gives Dostal a guy to tutor under for the first 2 years, and it will be easier to trade him than Gibson.

Demko does not want to be traded. And if he did.....LA or Anaheim would not be his choice. He is from San Diego. Ask 99% of the people from there.....they hate the whole LA area. In fact, in a recent interview, he said exactly that.

Dude, you get a goalie that's 2 years younger, on a deal that's shorter by a year and has a savings of 1.4M per year on cap hit. Gibson has regressed every year for the past 4. With exception of this year, Demko has gotten better every year, and this year was due to a poor start due to injury. ANA would be nuts to pass on this.

We have our goalie of the future in Dostal, we don't have cap issues, and our "regressing" goalie was an all-star just last season, and the reason he was an all-star last season was he went into the all-star break with a 0.924 SV%. He's still got it, we just need to put a defense in front of him that doesn't give up 40+ SOG every single night. Demko isn't a need, barely qualifies as a want, so why throw picks at it?

The only reason you take this deal if you are Anaheim is if you believe he is cooked. You notice none of the Anaheim fans on here think that, because we can see he still easily passes the eye test. Yeah, his stats are bad, that happens to goalies when there is a beer league defense in front of them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Gibson. But this also works in favor of Dostal, as it moves up his timeline a year. He's gonna need an increase this year on a bridge deal, and before Gibson is up, he'll most likely need a bigger UFA raise. It makes sense. Either way, ANA has to make some moves if they want to start competing

Really? Downgrading in net to an older player who's not as good with a higher cap hit all for a 2nd and 3rd? It would take a 2023 1st to get VAN to move Demko

Dream all you want man, the only way you are getting 1OA this year for Demko is if Petey is included as a sweetener.

Demko for Gibson + 1OA, man the drugs up in Vancouver must be good.

Even if it was 3OA, which is the lowest it could possibly go, you wouldn't get it for Demko even if you had to eat Campbell and Peterson's goalie contracts coming back the other way.
